Allagan earring vs Rose gold earring (dps)

So I know lv 90 gear is better than 70 with materia but in case of the rose gold earring I could see that with materia 4 it would be much better.

the allagan earring of striking/maiming it has
STR 13
Skill Speed 11
Crit rate 16/acc 16

and the HQ Rose Gold Ear Screws has:
STR 9
DEX 9
Det 6
Acc 12

but the cap of materias in the earring is 10 VIT 12 S.speed/Crit.Rate/Acc and 8 Det

which one is superior with materias taken into equation?

Had a similar situation in 1.0 where the tank had to choose between HP and STR. I said to go STR if you can dodge consistently and survive (in 1.0 endgame most attacks against the tank can be dodged), otherwise go HP.


Rose gold would be the HP and Allagan would be the STR. Think about how well you can dodge (your ping) , and about the unavoidable damage (e.g. Titan: do you have about 3k hp? , Twintania: do you have about 4k hp?).

The exception would be for healers, I would say Rose gold is better for healers.

As a MNK 50 right now I have 4.2k hp in pt with 480 acc, but skill speed is useless above 350 (In my opinion). In battles I run out of TP when I keep standing doing just dps.

I just wish I knew how superior is STR to Det.

It is the only piece of gear that has made me think about choosing 4 STR or +crit/det/vit

I heard from someone that skill speed is good for MNK because of greased lightning (something about getting GCD to 2.0s so he could use macros. Lazy him)

Without Grease Lightning I have 2.45 recast with GL 3 i have 2.04 making it complex to macro still in fights like tonberry king or the boss in AK I run out of Tp before he dies and I used Invigorate already. Killing my dmg in the long run.

I looked around and the only thing I could find was a maybe? Wp dmg 1= 8 str/int/dex/mnd and 1 str/dex/int/mnd = 8 det which makes me think it is a lot of difference.

TP becomes less of a problem in an organised party. Bards will sing for you.

Really depends on what content you want to do.

Well a brd that sings for me changes a lot of the fight in the long run, making the allagan obviously better. But in the end, me looking for the best I can overall in survival and dmg is what made me start this debate.

If you look at just the major stats (STR and VIT), rose gold gives 9STR+8VIT (VIT IV + crit/det/acc III is popular), it gives 17 to your major stats while Allagan gives 13 (STR) so you might say rose gold is better overall.
But for some people VIT doesn't benefit them at all, so they only see 9STR vs 13STR and they say Allagan is better overall.

My suggestion is:
If you already have both, wear Allagan until you have problems surviving then switch to rose gold.
If you already have one of them, don't bother getting the other.
If you don't have any, get the one that is easiest for you.

You need to get all the crafted i70s fully melded to benefit from them properly. Sure, some i90s add bigger numbers of a single stat, but that's it. Gryphonskin/Rose Gold lets you cap crit and determination and in many cases leave you with 2 or 3 more slots to socket vit or skillspeed.

12crit, 12acc, 8det in all 5 pieces (or 6 if you want a i70 belt) really adds up and is superior to the 20 dex or str you lose. Plus gryphonskin will cap your acc in your base stats, so you never ever need to use accuracy food. Also, using your skills 0.05 seconds faster and having an extra 500 HP is a nice bonus.
