Might be taking what I said a little too literally... If you're asking that the first step of CT accomodate players who already have gear above what it currently has to offer, you're asking for what would essentially be in the second step, thereby skipping the first. I'm not talking about the physical layouts of the dungeons, monsters/bosses, or actual steps or floors, but the intended purpose relating to progression that the devs have designed the first step for.

Then they should have had it ready at launch. So they are already skipping it anyways be delaying it by almost 4 months and then not adjusting the content to accommodate for what most players should already have even for the casual player.

I know that SE is trying to help the casual player out, But by the time 2.1 comes out it will have been almost 4 months since launch. Most of them should have quite a few pieces of darklight or at least 1 job with full ilvl70. Asking for ilvl70 requirement shouldn't be that big of a deal. If anything that keep content relevant and prolongs it by forcing people to get it done.

The game cannot keep catering to people who only play 12hrs a week. That's not how a MMO should work. I can't wait to see how many people get up set when all content has ilvl requirements after 2.1, So people are going to be forced into doing content in the appropriate gear anyways. So the people who only play 12hrs a week are going to have to gear up regardless of CT ilvl if they want to do other content.

So one should have to commit to a part time job like schedule to play mmo's properly???

I am sorry, but real people with real responsibilities in real life play this game too. . .

. . .and our subscription money is just as valuable if not more so to Square-Enix's bottom line.

I work, I have a wife, I have two kids, and I only play FFXIV like 4-6hrs a week and that's not by choice.

Here's the thing I don't pay your sub and you don't pay mine. SE should be catering to everyone not just the people who only play a few hours a week. If you or anyone wants to play 12hrs a week because RL then that's your right to do so you pay your sub. But people like me who would like to be able to play more than 12hrs a week pretty much can't because there are to many lockouts in place to prevent that and I pay my monthly sub.

Everyone pays to play the game and has the right to play at their own pace. If people want to take 14 weeks to get 1 job to level 50 or 14hrs to get level 50 then that's their choice. So if you (or anyone) decides to take your time with content that's your choice. If I (or anyone) wants to burn through content in a week that should be my choice, If I run out of content guess what that's my fault and I have to deal with the consequences with nothing else to do. But forcing lockouts is pretty much catering to the people who can't play as much as they want so they don't get left behind.

I played FFXI I'm use to lockouts IDR if any of them had a week long lock out I think Einherjar but I might be wrong, Most everything was 72hr lockout. WE don't have that here CoB one week that's fine I understand the reason is to drag out content until the next patch, But I don't understand why add in content that is lower level and then put a weekly lockout on loot. But you can run it a million times a week but can only win one piece of gear. Hence goes back the two reasons I came up with as to why the ilvl is so low.

All ilvl requirements in this thread out the door on this issue. With all these lockouts how are new players suppose to play catch up? I have 2 IRL friends that just started and they are going to be behind in gear for months. So that's another reason why Lockouts suck.

And that goes back to what I just said depending on the type of player you are depends on how fast you can catch up not counting lockouts.

    For 1.

I'm not trying to dispute that CT should be skipped because it wasn't in at launch I'm just saying that putting a loot lockout on gear that is not BIS is dumb.

I believe it was suppose to be 2.1CoB turn6-10 and 2.2 CT floors?-? 2.3 CoB 10+

I'm having trouble following you on your point; First you say they need to just stop catering to the players that can only play 12 hours a week, then you insist they need to cater to everyone. You insist that they bump the iLvl requirement to 70 (after saying it's not about the iLvl) to force players to do the content, but then you state everyone should have a choice. As for your 2 irl friends that just started, part of playing the content is to experience the content, not just getting better gear. The point of getting better gear is so you can move on to the next content. (Last I checked, there isn't much, if any, content after BC/i90 gear)

On top of that, they've said they'll ease older content as they add new content. The more content that's added to an MMO, the further "behind" new players will be. Who's to say, once there's actually content on the other side of the gap that'll actually provide a use for iLvl 90 gear, that the lockouts won't be reduced or removed, making it easy to "play catchup"?

1: Again, no need for them to skip. In fact, it's reasonable to assume that since CT was always meant to be before BC, that CT should have been the next new content. Instead, I believe SE's stated that the next addition would be to BC, likely so it didn't feel like BC was getting "skipped" with people seeing CT content added twice.

3: Your opinion on how someone else's MMO should work is just that, an opinion. Right now, people are already "upset" about subpar gear issues in DF pugs. Part of this is because the gear progression system isn't exactly clear cut. iLvl requirements, if anything, will make the gear progression system far more clear cut for those who aren't playing as often/savvy with MMORPGs, making it easier to set clear goals to work towards.
