Just the gear sells for high enough and has more demand since people can then meld whatever the hell they want for it.
Also, most gear with melded materia in it are sold for ridiculous price even when the melds in it are terrible. Buyers rather buy the base gear and try their luck with their own melds than pay 4 million - 5 million for melded gear that isn't even hitting stat cap.

I'd say the crafted accessories are highly worth it for many of the jobs.

Look up my character if would like to see what a bard with 5.3k health(in a raid+food) looks like... :P If I join a pug group for WP or something, often I have as much or more hp than the paladin tank.

Before someone says, "hey, you are sacrificing dps stats to do that!", actually no I'm not. What you can meld into jewelery is pretty limited. And if I wanted to pay for some more Vitality IV materia, I could boost it even more. Ok, well I will admit, I did sacrifice skill speed, but, will anyone argue that a bard needs that?

It's not hard to do really. It can be expensive, but if you farm the materials and do some spirit binding of gear to break, it's manageable.

To those who may say that having that much HP isn't worth the money for people that can do mechanics properly, maybe so, but there certainly isn't a disadvantage to having it.

Because darklight or crafted gear isn't best in slot in most cases. Myth and Allagan gear is. Why spend crap loads of gil on crafted gear when it's only temporary? The only exception currently is Vanya gear and some accessories.

We're busy gearing people up with them to sell them.

Apart from VIT/Mainstat, crafted & melded gives you alot more.

This is how I see it. I'm taking a much bigger financial risk if I premeld.

    vanya gear/ tome gear

Vanya gear in my opinion is far better then the stuff u buy once u put he time into it this is why me and my buddy did a test him full 70 gear two peaces of 90 meth gear me full crafted four melds each peaces (a lot of time) we ran a dps counter to see ( yes not righy but genral idea) I out dps him by 10k averge outt of five runs just to be sure so if u pit the time in money in u can get great gear again only my opinion also melds in crafted gear on ah way over priced

Because overmelding is so Random that it can cost 50k to 2 mil to overmeld gear in some scenarios and it won't sell for that. So the risk of trying to do it for profit is to high. If you want overmelded gear your going to have to acquire it without melds. Spirit Bind all the materia, and get it melded. Finding a fully melded piece on the AH with the right materia in it is very rare, and when you do it is VERY expensive.

That and you need IL70 gear to guarantee a tier IV materia on the convert and IL70 requires philo mats, so Tier IV materia is very expensive. Some of them go for 1 million for one materia. And if the overmeld fails the materia is lost. So people generally meld the Tier IV first, but some of the melds need a tier IV materia in the 2nd slot, and that has like a 20% chance to fail and if it does that's 100k to 1mil down the toilet.

Il 55 gear will net a tier IV materia, but it's rare. I converted 6 il55 pieces and only got 1 tier IV, so that also keeps the price in Tier IV high.

If any of the gear from Cystal Tower can be converted to materia it will lower the cost of Tier IV a lot, but I doubt it will be convertible.

Ironically, I actually took a huge risk recently and made a pretty big profit. I bought Rose Gold Tank rings and spirit bonded them for 250k each. I converted them and got materia worth 475k and 500k...

I would level Goldsmith and do that myself, but the rings need 18 peacock ore's or w/e, which is absurd, that's 2,250 Philo Tomes, so 23 WP Runs..... Which is just crazy (and that's just for 1 ring). I could buy all the philo for 360k but the chance of getting a worthless tier IV is to high for that kind of risk, could end up going in the hole millions.

The most effecient way to get Tier IV materia with the lowest risk is IL55 crafted gear, materia it with tier 1 crap so it binds faster and make your own materia. When you've got about 20 Tier IV's and tons of tier III's your ready to overmeld an entire Vanya Set... But you could sell all those Tier IV's for 10's of millions probably.

My point, it is so crazily ineffecient, that you are better off just getting Darklight and winging it till you get IL90.

There really isn't any chance of it being convertible, considering the one drop per week limit.
