I enjoy the game greatly, and I make really slow progress (Not even finished DL after 3months and legacy :3)

Awww yesss, finding random tribesmates is the best. <3

I even made up some backstory for this that goes with Miqo'te lore: our dad was S'Mahri Nunh (pronounced "Su-MAH-ree", presently S'Mahri Tia), who after fathering a few dozen kids back in the village, decided to go off exploring pre-Calamity Eorzea. He came home and settled back down afterwards with all kinds of crazy stories to tell the kids...so now of course we, too, have left all good sense behind and live as adventurers.

(my original backstory)
When Aluena Mahri was young she was exiled in disgrace from her family and she became a poacher at the edge of The Twelveswood. She was eventually caught by an Old Hyur woman named Mary who took her in and, despite Aluena's hostility and arrogance, did her best to teach and raise her. Aluena eventually grew to respect Mary who was always patient and kind with her. Several years after Aluena was saved Mary passed away. Devastated by her loss Aluena forsake the name of the family who abandoned her and took Mary's name as a final respect to her caretaker and teacher. After some time Aluena registered to the Adventurer's Guild and began traveling. In her travels she discovered her strong passion for magic. Generally a very unsociable person Aluena rarely speaks her mind, still holding her memories of her old family's harshness towards her.

Likes: Apples, Popotos, Magic, and poetry
Dislikes: Causing others pain, talking about her past, and greedy or materialistic people

Hahah, that one threw me...a mooncat with a warm color palette! No need to do any editing if nothing quite fits, since we all gotta do our own thing. But, it's nice to run into someone with a similar original name.

I sort of stumbled into the name "Mahri" -- I wanted something with that vowel sound, and by chance happened upon the name Sulaiman al-Mahri, who was a 15th century Arab Navigator. I rolled with that, and naturally, Llymlaen was the logical choice for a patron, and this character here has a bit of an Arabic look about her, so.

Not a super-elaborate backstory, but she's a bit older than your average FF character (she'd have to be like, the experienced Sazh or Auron type), has a few kids who are being raised collectively in her home village, which seems about right for suncat customs. She has extraordinary admiration for her father and a great deal of pride in where she comes from. However, she'll just as gladly go by "Anzu", her given name. The S' is the tribal honorific (though there's a bit of wordplay with the tribal name and her given name...but only noticeable by nerds for Mesopotamian mythology).

Likes: Science, maps, tea, hard liquor, heavy things, good people.
Hates: Awkward social expectations, people who don't practice what they preach, excessively loud things, being touched in the belly without warning (caution, will bite, twitchy cat)

The thing with miqo'te irises actually makes me think: This is obviously a stylistic thing, but if they work at all like normal eyes (normal cat's eyes, for that matter) they'll always dilate widely like that in the dark, and always narrow to slits in the light.

Having eyes set like that permanently would make it really painful for mooncats to wander into sunlight, and suncats would be completely unable to see in the dark. So, I figure, it can be assumed that both tribes' eyes dilate that way, but showing them in different states is a nice little bit of visual flair to show their respectively nocturnal and diurnal natures.
