Is it strange that I sometimes miss the sight of Dalamud in the sky?
Or this guy? :/
Was looking through old screens. All the feels!

I played very little of 1.0, so I missed out on the Nael / Dalamud mayhem. I did listen to the world music for the event, though -- that really creepy, distorted version of Answers, and that had to have been really cool. I also watched the blu-ray that came with the special edition, which had all the storyline cutscenes.
Let me just say that the one shot of Van Darnus in Castrum Novum completely sold me: After blowing everything the hell up, he turns to walk into the flames all Sephiroth-style...except he's laughing like a maniac and doing this ridiculous sashay as he goes.
This guy may as well have literally been Sephiroth, Kefka, and Kuja all crammed into a single suit of Judge armor.
And that is wonderful.
I don't care how flimsy the story reason ends up being; I hope Nael Van Darnus comes back someday.
EDIT: Some content (click to view, hidden so as not to break tables)

Another screenshot I took. I'm still kinda lowbie, but even here, some of the sights are just astoundingly cool. Guys, pull your camera down to a wide shot whenever you can.

This, you probably know, is the boss area of Sastasha. What I love about it is a certain detail: Those sinuous columns of rock in the distance. Vylbrand is a volcanic island. What you're seeing there are cooled lava-flows, with the sediment around it having been eroded away, forming that grotto. I love when artists do things like this -- the land's story is told by the land itself.
And, ME:
I didn't choose the pirate life, the pirate life chose me.

New EU advertisements. How fashionable!

They advertise. It's good. I like it.
What we suffer is "the curse of knowledge". For new people, most of the dungeons after level 24 is considered "intense". For us, we just don't understand why newbies do not "get the mechanic" when everything is spelled out for you right in front of your screen... For them Brayflox is HARD ("you want me to Esuna all of you? move out of the way? and cure three people???), Sunken Temple is "ZOMG WTF was that", Cutter's Cry was "intense" and Titan "baby trial" was "fck this, I swear I ran and out of the train track from hell".

Too slow Thal. And there is a NA version, and probably a JP one too.
