    Shouldn't Thyrus+1 be the last item I get when it comes to using Myth tomes?

    This is my first MMO so this may sound silly because I'm probably missing something here but is it really recommended a White Mage get their Thyrus+1 before anything else? The difference in stats is not that great when comparing it to regular Thyrus and when I look at the stats for something like cleric's culottes and compare it to the darklight breeches of healing, the stat boost is that much greater than Thyrus+1 IIRC. This pretty much applies to any AF2 gear, so why is everyone pushing White Mages to get their Thyrus+1 first? I'm currently running Bahamut's coil for its healer loot and I had plan to get Thyrus+1 as the last item for my build, to be completely honest. Is that a bad idea?

    Its the magic damage (thyrus +1) on top of the stats that adds to your healing making it the best overall.

    How I see the new abilities:
    Asylum - Get ready for my holy spam because that's the only healing you gonna get.
    Aero III - I guess I should put some dots up before holy spamming.
    Assize - I need more MP to spam holy even more, also stop getting hit in the face.
    Tetragrammaton - I guess I should heal that tank now.

    CMIIW 1 damage = 9 of your base stats.

    So with 3 magic damage increase, it's like you're gaining a 27 mnd (assuming mnd is the base stat. of WHMs)

    The jump from relic to relic+1 for a healer specifically is about equivalent to ~20 MND, ~16 MND just counting the weapon damage.

    Raising your weapon's ilvl also increases the damage done by a Limit Break, as this is influenced by the party's average weapon damage/level/something I believe.

    So if I'm understanding this correctly, the weapon damage also increases other stats? If that's the case then I wasn't aware of this at all... Is there anywhere I can find more information on this?

    Thanks a million for the help too. I was ready to buy myself the cleric's boots on Monday but it's probably best I save towards the Thyrus+1 now.

    does this work with other jobs? ie DRG?
    becuase i took all of my gear off and had my Gae Bolg equipped with 44 dmg and +27 str --- after switching it with a lvl one spear with 5 dmg my strength went from 302 to 275 which is only subtracting the additional 27 str from my relic.

    from my personal testing this theory is completely incorrect.

    i would advise getting the gear that gives the best bonus stat upgrades

    Not so much that it increases your other stats, but the Magic Damage attribute on a mage's staff actually is part of the damage and healing they do.
    1 point of Magic Damage increases your healing by about the same value as 9 points of Mind. Which means that Magic Damage is very important. The 3 points of Magic Damage you gain going +1 on your Thyrus can only be outmatched by gaining +27 Mind from another source

    First, be aware that the damage boost from NQ relic to +1 relic varies:
    +3: Mages/Healers
    +2: All physical relics except...
    +1: BRD

    So the effects are a little less pronounced for BRD, so much that most advise getting it last. For all others, it's best to get +1 relic first.

    Second, nobody said weapon damage directly adds TO your main stat. The boost it gives to your damage/healing is AS IF you had that much. Not the same thing.

    ok thank you for clearing that up.
    so if i +1 my relic (physical dmg +2) it would be as if i gained 18 str?
