    Is this the future for the rest of ARR's upcoming expansions and updates?

    Dungeon grinding for gear grind Is the vision for Yoshi and his team for the forseeable future? The sad thing is previous version of XIV ended up being pretty good game comparable to where ARR stands at this moment. Even the update notes are not very encouraging.

    As a previous player of 1.0 I'm not happy with the direction Yoshi and his team are taking this game, I feel like I'm playing a cross between WoW and GW2, not a great fan of both of those games either.

    Is this the game you guys wanted? is Yoshi going in the right direction for those that played the previous version?

    Personally I'd like Hamlet back and chocobo escorting to name a couple, I'd also like to see more open world content instead of this entering instances to do everything.

    I haven't bothered to log into the game for last 4-5 weeks, I'm done with dungeon grinds tbh.

    Personally I never played 1.0 but I'm loving this game. The sheer variety of activities while levelling (quests/FATEs/crafting/dungeons) has meant I haven't gotten bored once. As for endgame and expansions, they are only just releasing their first update, game has only been out for three months. Name another mmo that announced new landmasses, classes and quests this early on? It doesn't happen. New content will come, let them get updates #1 and #2 out of the way first before condemning it eh?

    I feel the same as you op, this game needs more open world content. More end game open world content to be exact...

    I agree whatever ARR is it's no where near as good as the end of 1.0. It has turned into a kiddy show. You can thank Yoshi for that.

    How I see the new abilities:
    Asylum - Get ready for my holy spam because that's the only healing you gonna get.
    Aero III - I guess I should put some dots up before holy spamming.
    Assize - I need more MP to spam holy even more, also stop getting hit in the face.
    Tetragrammaton - I guess I should heal that tank now.

    If it's a serious question, OP, yes they've chosen to go with dungeon gear grinds and it is a mixture of GW2 and WoW. It's what sells right now and it was a business decision. I haven't played much of WoW so I can't speak on any side-grade growth it had but from the little I do know of it, new patch means new gear to go get and old gear becomes obsolete. Just a continuous grind to get new gear when it comes out and down new dungeons. Also toss in some level grinding in there when they raise the cap. That'll be interesting for sure with the balancing of ilvl and real level.

    Remember, Yoshi P and his team had over a year to make those changes in 1.0 while developing 2.0. This game is barely out three months, give the team a break.

    hmmm really ? I played 1.0 too, and i don't remember anything to do outside farming darklight gear in 2 dungeons. It was pretty much all instanced...like now. Don't fool yourself, farming tapers in stronghols is not a good definition of open world content.

    I don't get what's wrong with dungeons.
    You say you want an open world event for gear instead of dungeons. Then imagine the amount of people who go in WP/Coil join these new events, assuming these new events drop better gear and I think it's what you want when you make such a suggestion.
    Do you see the mess this would create? And how would people get the equip? Maybe with a token system, since the current claim system isn't "your claim" > "your drop" friendly. But then you get something similar to the current myth tokens system. Nothing too much different from a dungeon where everyone can join or Odin/Behemoth FATEs that give items to trade for equip.
    Unless you want an "instanced open world" (kinda like Chimera); then you end up with a dungeon without a ceil (sounds like Brayflox).

    It's possible that everything I've written above is not what you mean. In that case I kindly ask you to help me get a better image of what your idea is.
