I'd like to see FFXI mobs here too...but i must say...Ixal = Yagudos ^^: Right now the game has, from beastmen, goblin, armored goblin, yagudo, mamool ja and sahagin.Mandragoras, tonberries, behemoths, dhamels, maybe think of making FFXI beastmen types as mobs in XIV (they don't have to be beastmen but I'd love to see Yags, Quadavs and Orcs reimagined a tiny bit and in updated graphics. ) Magiktek creations from garlean empire (for a new suggestion even though Garlean is FFII based we can think outside of the box with this one)
Mobs I would like to see in XIV are...
Dhalmel
Treant
Tiger
Gigas
Leech
Ram
Ghost
(The two mob types that I would like to see the absolute most (hands down) have been mentioned already; Tonberries and Mandragora. These are a MUST!)
In my humble opinion I think Tonberries are the coolest monster ever designed by Square! For this reason, I would like to see an entire region/zone/stronghold dedicated to them, as in FFXI.

Now this is my kinda topic. Lets see...
Click the names for visuals
Mandragora
Of course, these enemies started in XI, however they've been seen in XII as well and have now achieved mascot status along with goblins, bombs, cactuars, and tonberries...which brings me to...
Tonberry
These monsters are notorious for their unassuming nature...until you start slashing and punching them to no avail, only to be stabbed with an average chef knife for massive damage. The everyone's grudge attack is also a staple that makes this monster really dangerous to handle. Do you kill as many as possible for exp? Or only what is necessary so you dont risk DOOM.
Behemoth
Another staple monster. When I watched the collectors edition XIV DVD, I know I saw a behemoth model already having been completed and animated, so hopefully we'll see this formidable foe sometime soon (raid dungeon boss maybe?)
Abyss Worm/Giant Zone Eaters
These guys are just begging to be added, especially with the detail afforded with the crystal tools engine.
Hedgehog pies (spiky frogs on hind legs)
These enemies would make perfect additions to any swampy area.
Giant Dragons
Every FF title has had some sort of giant distinct looking dragon enemy. XIV should be no different.
Iron Giant
A very powerful enemy that would be idea for a dungeon boss battle.
Ryu/Japanese style dragons
These were pretty strong in FFIV...but i'm not sure if they would fit as a normal enemy, Notorious Monster, or dungeon boss.
Sentry/CPU/more mechanical enemies early on
The Garlean empire is supposed to possess highly advanced technological skills, so wouldnt it only make sense to see more mechanical enemies types?
Manticore/Sphinx (beast with human face...maybe stone mask?)
Would be perfect for an eventual pyramid/desert area ruin dungeon?
T-Rexaur
There just arent enough Final Fantasy titles that take advantage of the fact that a T-Rex inspired monster has graced the series before.
Mimic
If we're going to have dungeons with possible treasure chests, appearing during levequests, or maybe even eventual treasure chests in the natural field randomly appearing, we need mimics. Adds an element of suspense to opening chests.
Gilgamesh
Enough said.
Flamehound
An elemental beast composed entirely of flames. Also works for the alternate version, Frosthound.
Rhinotaurs
Dont remember seeing them anywhere outside of FFVI, but they were pretty cool enemies.
Doomgaze
Another possible cool boss battle...or maybe even someone Archon related (same for Lich).
Undead/Zombie Dragon
I dont think there has ever been a true bone dragon enemy in a 3D Final Fantasy title. Now would be a great time to start.
Ultros
Dont tease the octopus kids! Ultros would be another nice fit for a cameo battle like Gilgamesh. Nothing to tie into story, just another fun addition to see in Eorzea.
Siegfried
A challenging opponent for a dark knight or paladin job related quest (weapon, skill, armor?)
Plantspiders along with Ochus
Ochus are cool pairs with Malboros and flytraps, but Plantspiders are even better. This unique enemy from FFIX combines the the creepiness of a giant spider and a man eating plant, making for a cool design and a great enemy to fight in a jungle, swamp, or wooded area.
Basilisk
I'd like to see this reoccuring reptile enemy be represented in XIV. It's last appearance was IX, and it looks crazier than a pieste...so that along makes it a nice addition to the scalekin enemies.
Ankylo
Looks menacing enough, but im not sure what current region it would fit...of course its still a great enemy to add for future purposes.
Killer Mantis
We need more monster sized vilekin.

Banshees
The ghost type mobs at the moment look cute, would be nice to get some bigger meaner more detailed ghost types like the bogys in dunes from FFXI.
Demons
Cockatrice
Scorpions
Kraken
Satyrs
Humanoid Bat Creatures
Lizards
Fetid Flesh types from FFXI
Heatcomb Type/Evil Weapons
Wow Tekno, nice![]()
Thanks. If its one spot I felt XI fell flat (until Treasures and Wings expansions) its monster variety/design/picking species from past FF titles. I know XI monsters are a given, so I figured i'd dig deeper for some of my favorites, especially those that would really add some nice visual variety to XIV.
Full support of the scan technique/spell by the way. Since there isnt a Final Fantasy XIV strategy guide, it gives us a way to check enemy weaknesses/stats without having to resort to wikis and guides every few minutes. Also its just fun to complete bestiaries...and they've been in every recent FF title/remake/port, so why not XIV?

But we do have Basilisks and even Rainbow Basilisks. You can get a glimpse of one, if you look in a pit near Horizon. Not that they can be beaten without very skilled group. I can promise you, you will be annoyed to death, if you pick wrong route in the R46 story mission because of them.Basilisk

Back to topic. Very nice list overall. I'd add Snakes to it though.
Well it doesnt have to use that name since I know there are Piestes that use that name as well, just an enemy that uses that same model/art (crazy chameleon looking enemy).

Sorry misinterpreted you there. I agree seeing those wacky lizards would be fun. Were they actually called Basilisks back in time? Maybe I'll dig out good old FFI and find out..
im not sure if mentioned already, but a Hydra type mob would be nice, if only for a boss. In addition to the existing pudding i would like to see transparent morphing blob-type mobs (magic users mainly). Some that pop other smaller blob vessels at a certain stage of defeat to help out on DDing but weaken the def and such...
