Main Story now for the hardcore elite only

That bit of answers made me more confused. So for those who are in coil now, and having Extreme modes be part of the main story after TitanHM, does that mean Coil will be locked for everyone after the patch has been implemented?

Because after relic reborn quest has finished it unlocks coil, main quest story follows

Relic Reborn > chimera > hydra > ifrit > garuda > titan > 900phil item to make +1 > coil.

this makes no sense if my understanding of the answers was correct.

No it won't work like that. When you beat Titan HM, instead of just the Coils quest coming up, the extreme quests will also, branching off. So when you beat Titan HM, both extreme quests and Coils are available and go on their own quest branches. Yoshida said before end game story would branch off in multiple paths.

It's not party of the main story, the main story ends in Praetorium.

There isn't going to be another "main" story until the next big expansion. Like Rise of the Zilart in FFXI.

SE are making Hard and Extreme modes part of the main story so only hardcore players capable of defeating the hardest content in the game will be able to continue the main story.

So for the majority of players who will never beat Titan HM or beyond the Main Story ended with Praetorium.

Time to look for another game it seems.

Ilvl 70 is neither hardcore or elite, hardmode primals are the same. Now if you had to complete turn 5 as part of the main story it would be hardcore.

I have to agree with OP.

I like to experience the story but i'm more of a casual player overall. I don't mind pushing myself for things like Coil because it needs to feel epic and challenging given the subject matter and the fact you're exploring it to find answers to the heart of the story that was setup in the opening cutscene. However judging by how HM primals were shoehorned in to the main quest "oh, ifrit's back. Can you go beat him again?" i can't see them serving the plot all that much. They shouldn't be necessary to continue on with the story SE have planned.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way. It sounds like it is tied to the relic story arc, not main story. They are supplementing the content with story but it will not be required to advance in the main story, which ended in praetorium, when more is added.

Think dynamis story in ffxi. It explored the main story deeper, but was not required to advance in the main or roz story.
