Actually, you do more damage than the Warrior if a Warrior has applied SE.
Evenw ithout SE, the amount of damage a Warrior does compared to a Paladin is only greater by an insignificant amount and is nothing to be worrying over.
Paladin mitigation is also more consistent.

parsed DPS report on training dummies shows a WAR dealing approximately 18-20% more DPS.

With the 2.1 WAR buff, effective HP for both PLD and WAR is roughly equal, the only advantage for a PLD will be its utility skills and the block from shields

False, the parse that I have seen has shown that the difference is in the single digit percentile.
Roughly 220 to approximately 210 DPS.
I will need to find it for you but the DPS reports on training dummies have not shown anything close to such a disparity.

This assumes, however, that people understand how to play a class and not consume invisible GCD's poorly.

I.e. Not using SW and CoS before RoH.

Furthermore, mathematical data provided by Kitru has also further illustrated that the DPS advantage a WAR possesses is around 6%, which is about 10 to 20 more DPS in the current BIS slots.
In Tank stance, a Paladin tends to do slightly more due to the fact that a WAR has a larger damage debuff (25% which lowers their DPS by 33% which cannot be made up for), vs a Paladins 20% (losing 25% of their DPS by STorm's edge means their damage will be igher thana WAR in defiance.)

The myth of WAR doing significantly more damage than a PLD is false.

False, the current eHP looking at purely the amount of health is equal for a WAR in Defiance and a PLD in Shield Oath.
PLD still receives a 25% heal buff due to 20% mitigation vs a WAR's current 15%; and 20% in the patch. So they will still be less squishy.
The patch will bring thee eHP of a WAR to be much more equal with a PLD when cooldown's are utilized.
