    So? All they would have to do is introduce new advanced weapons that pair with certain jobs. Dark Night, for instance could use Great Swords. Equipping either the sword or Soul would automatically equip the other as well. If both are not in your inventory, you get an error. It would be quite easy. Skills are already transferable to different weapon types due to cross class spells, so that wouldn't be a big deal either.

    While I agree completely that it SHOULD, the current system doesn't allow it. The mage classes have a one handed and two handed weapon types, but they are separate from each other. They could so easily change their system, but as is this is what we have.

    that's because for the major of your jobs they'll have to work on a new class, and not just throw 5 random abilities to make a new job. There is no "sooner". Only "Later"
    Not talking about the entire process about designing, developing and balancing a new job. 5 skills may be low, but they can impact the gameplay a lot. I'll make an example: bard's mage ballad.
    If ballad didn't existed, they would have designed mages to have more skills to gain mp, and/or adjust the mp you automatically gain every thick. Otherwise, since mp would be scarce, the fights would have to be significally shorter, and for the three of these, it's a lot of work in balancing and testing. And this only for 1 skill. That's to say adding 5 simple abilities it's not something you can do in a night.

    I realize it's probably just me, but I'm hoping gld/thm turns in to a RDM centered around dps/enfeeble.

    The problem is that if Gladiator 30, THM 15 turns into Red Mage, it would have to be a tank class. You have all the skills of Gladiator, which is mostly tanking abilities.

    They already said we likely won't see any new jobs/level cap raises until an expansion.

    Not quite true they've stated in the past they've toyed with the idea that certain jobs will CHANGE how existing "Class" abilities function. They gave an example about how a Dark Knight can stem from Gladiator but be a dps.

    Skills could change, similar to acn. Rampart to a blaze spikes, fight or flight to enfira, etc.

    The only thing I wouldn't like is that some of these "new" jobs are paired...which means they will be 50 as soon as they are out.

    I already dislike the fact that we can't level the other classes separately. I would hate to get a new Job and have it be 50 already.

    They should be new classes with any and all new Jobs.

    But the weapon thing is easy. make some Swords only gld/pld and others only RDM and so on and so forth.

    Thief can use "Knife's" instead of daggers or something as silly as that
