Does this game truly need minmaxing?

All of them seems to lead to a mix of allagan and myth. Ending up with a idiot crappy look, and...BiS stats..right..

People who min-max often focus on end game content, devouring content as fast and effective as possible, and that's where their enjoyment lies in the game.
Not everyone has to mix-max in order to do content, you can clear plenty of the content in a full set of X gear, though you won't be doing it as efficiently as you could be.
You can play dress up all you like.. You have the people who want to stay ahead of everyone else and the one's who don't worry too much.

For the most part I agree with your statement up until this point and that is only because there is zero progressive content coming out for endgame raiding until 2.2 for the people that have cleared t1-t4 or t5. That means a good portion of the people who don't worry too much will probably be through t5 and sitting in full w/e it is that makes them and the RNG gods happy.

Most people who min-max and drive hard for endgame content don't seem to be enjoying much of anything from where I sit.

Sure, they'll scream "f***yeah" for 10sec solid after their FIRST big victory over any particular content, but the other 99.999999% of the time, they're yelling "WTF" at the game, at SE, and at other players.

Sadly, they appear to be a joyless bunch of content-addicts who are hell-bent on proving themselves in the game rather than actually enjoying it.



I could be wrong though. it could just be the 'hardcore hard-cores' on my server (and in DF)... maybe others are different?

I'm an end-gamer, who loves min-maxing, and I enjoy the content as I play it. I read all the quests, I do all the side quests, I leveled my one unleveled job in ARR without fate grinding...

And the only reason we complain about lack of content is because coil can only be done once a week (and we are at that point in which we can clear it within 2 hours) and because we've capped our jobs in 1.0

Not to mention that AF2 is tied directly with how much time you've been playing. Which is pretty damn silly.
