    Really love the game, but your service forced me to quit.

    I'm not gonna write some long and boring sob story about why I quit, but I'll give you a rough explanation and a lengthy legitimate reason, in hopes that Square realizes what they are doing and sort their procedures out.

    I followed ARR since the very beginning when it was announced, I watched every single live letter, read every single Yoshi letter and even purchased the CE for myself and my partner. I love the game, it's graphically amazing, gameplay is smooth and feels great, the story was/is amazing and overall, I'd give the product 9.5/10.

    The Problem.

    You may think doing maintenance every 2 days is fine because you're only doing it for 3-4 hours right? Square you could be sitting there thinking to yourselves "surely our subs won't drop over something like this..."

    wrong.

    I have quit, 5 of my friends and my girlfriend included have all quit. We were all very passionate about this game, we loved every single detail and enjoyed the hell out of it.

    I understand the game is new and these things need to happen, unfortunately you are doing these maintenance every 2 days, and it's always roughly at the same time. Most of us (my friends) live in New Zealand and New South Wales Australia, meaning as soon as we come home from work every 2 days, we are hit with prime time maintenance. This means we get no game-time whatsoever because the servers only come up just before bed time.

    This isn't just an oceanic problem, there's heaps of Americans and Europeans that work unusual hours and are constantly hit with these things, they are basically paying 14.99 to play for 19-20 days a month, how is this fair?

    The only logical thing to do would be to ROTATE the emergency maintenance. If you have enough time to warn us 1 day in advance, surely you could make arrangements to not screw the same people OVER and OVER.

    This will never end, you have no PTR whatsoever meaning whenever a major patch launches, you will spend 2-3 months fixing bugs with "emergency maintenance" and continue screwing the same people. As much as I would love to pay for this game and enjoy the product, I can't see myself giving you 14.99 a month for only 20 days game time and always cutting into my playtime, that is not a service.

    I get the impression servers are being held together with duct tape and rubber bands, given how many emergency maintenances we've been having lately.

    So..the tl;dr version is you quit because they do maintenance for no longer than a couple hours a night? Something all MMOs do which in all reality can actually last all day sometimes all week?

    Subs actually won't drop over something like this because it has way more uptime than it does down time - It would drop much faster if it had only a 3% up time. I've seen more people quit due to CS than I would because of something every MMO does. (Maintenance.)

    So let's count..SE stated they sold 1.5m copies so far, yea? They also stated they exceeded 600k active subs, which could mean 600,001 or 700,000+..7 people supposedly quit over this...now, 7/hundreds of thousands...

    Not trying to be insensitive, but you're not "as important" as you're trying to make it seem with this post :\

    In all reality, it only affects so few people in the grand scheme of things all they'd do by "rotating" it so the people who only have, what seems to be 3 hours a night to play isn't actually SE's problem. If they "rotate it" to appease the base that only plays at 11pm-1:30am PDT, they pretty much dump it into the prime time of ..everyone else. It seems a fair bit more selfish to expect SE to dump maintanence in everyone else's prime time.

    They already pushed it back, it used to be noon-3pm or so which people complained about because noon-3pm PDT, 3-5pm EST was pretty much US prime time for many who don't work or school. Like as an example, it's 2:00 AM PDT right now, not peak time and very much off hours for the US, which means its 11pm in new zeland, 7pm Japan (which is just before prime time) and midday ish (I believe) GMT...honestly, this is basically the perfect time frame they could have chosen.

    It's not the fact that they are only shutting them down for a couple hours a night, please read my post again for a better understanding of what's going on. These "couple of hours" are becoming entire days for some people, those of us that work and come home only to have the servers come down the minute we open the front door and back again when we're getting ready to sleep.

    The logical thing would be to rotate the servers, otherwise they are ALWAYS screwing the same people over and over. I wouldn't expect unaffected people to understand, unless they actually put themselves in our shoes before responding.

    4 months isn't "game launch" buddy. This is a company that has managed an MMORPG for 10 long years, they should be more professional than this. Once again, you fail to understand the real problem. Also, real mature...

    Less than 3 months actually. And yes, you can still consider it launch. And there is nothing unprofessional on working on their working hours.

    Been playing these games since 2002, this is the worst experience so far... most companies that do "every 2 days" nonsense actually have the decency to rotate the maintenance because they don't want to screw the same people over and over.. Square doesn't seem to mind though? Oceanic? hah! who cares... give us your Euros.

    Like I said, love the game and very proud of Yoshi and Co's work.. But this is a huge deal breaker for many people, all of you unaffected fail to grasp this.

    Did you ever play XI? EU got screwed over pretty much every maintenence.
    It's always going to be someone's prime time somewhere. I do agree they should rotate it, but it's unlikely to happen.

    Trust me, I wouldn't mind whatsoever if it was once a week.. but not being able to play every 2-3 days is becoming quite a nuisance, and it's not something I'm willing to pay for.. which is really unfortunate because I really love the game and the communities.
