I think it would run the game either way. I don't think directx11.2 or whatever support means they stop supporting the previous version. I don't think you will have to upgrade unless they plan to do a new engine or something radical like that.

On the other hand ps4 will play max settings, or so I have heard.

I built my PC beginning of 2010 for 1.0. Only upgrade I have done was add an ssd. It still plays on max settings. I payed about 1500.00 including monitor. So other than the SSD I have not done any major upgrades. I do not see "having" to for at least a couple more years. If you spend between 800-1000 dollars you should get about 5 years without having to upgrade. Wanting to upgrade is a something else all together.

It's funny because there was a point in time where the entire Playstation Network got hacked to pieces and sony shut down PSN for like 2 months and you couldn't play any online games, use netflix/hulu, purchase on the store etc. You could not log into your PSN ID for a LONNNNGGG Time. It was a disaster.

Imagine not being able to play FFXIV for 2 months with an active Subscription and it being Sony's fault and not SE's.

It's also funny because people have rooted PS3's that give them access to Linux and they can run w/e they want on it like it was a linux PC.

how is that compared to keyloggers and viruses? it seems to me you don't know the difference between hacking psn and a virus/keylogger. Still don't get the joke. I owned a playstation during that time, it wasn't as horrible because there are other things outside of video games. Sucked yes! not the end of the world though.

My point was, there are just as many downsides to owning a console as a PC. And imo their are way more Upsides to a PC.

The most common argument I see is, "I can lay in my bed and play FFXIV on my PS3"
, but, so can I. My PC is plugged into my TV and using my xbox pc controller (wireless) and a blue tooth keyboard I can lay in my bed and play on my PC on HDMI3 and my PS3 is on HDMI2....

If someone is a computer guru and capable of fixing anything that happens to it and preventing being infected from anything in the first place via (knowing how to browse the internet safely and not falling for phising attemps or allowing javascript injection hacks/java applets to run) then they are better off on a PC.

If you just want to play and don't know all the computer smarts and don't want to learn, then your better off on a console.

I've been gaming on a PC since 1998 and I haven't had malware or virus scanners installed since 2006 and I've never been hacked or had any viruses/malware. I run remote virus scans from my network server once in a blue moon and they've always been clean.

So I can go with PC, and IF they made a big change and people needed to upgrade their PC's, I could just get the PS4 ver. (Provided its out then) and upgrade my PC when I can, but would it be really needed if I have a med-high end PC now? as far as safety goes, #1 the gaming PC's are never used for web surfing #2 we have learned how to recognize phishing emails, I've been getting them for a game I've never played.

Yeah me too. I play on my pc mostly. I have a reclinable couch in front of the desk and a tv connected to the pc. I play with a ps3 controller.

doesn't have anything to do with ps3 not getting viruses though. Not everyone is as careful as you and I, people get infected with keyloggers and the like, this forum is proof.

Until the PS4 version comes out I will keep playing on the PC. I don't want to upgrade my PC until mid to late next year and that's when supposedly the directx 11.2 version will come out. PS4 version for 400 bucks and playing on max settings (speculation) gets my vote. That would be my advice too, play on your PC until the ps4 version comes out and then take a decision there, if upgrading your PC or getting a PS4. The beta starts in february so in three months you will know.

I don't think you will need to upgrade if you have a med-high end PC now. If ffxi and WoW are anything to go by, they don't stop supporting their initial version until much much later.

If you plan to go the PC route make sure you post specs on forum before buying it to get feedback. Common problem with PCs is most of them are sold with crappy or integrated video cards, which will give you an experience worse than a PS4 or PS3. Spending more on the video card can extend your PC life time a lot.

PS3, PS4, Xbox360 and Xbox1 all "aren't hackable/infectable" just like people said Mac wasn't. Remember a few years ago when Apple got it's first major "Antivirus" spoof and they told their employees to deny it?

In Sony's case, and Microsoft's would be too, it was more efficient to target the server where all the data is stored.

If cloud storage ever takes over the pc-world, vicious malware will become less common. Instead, otherwise-harmless keyloggers will take over for sniping at your data while other hackers try to take control of the cloud servers.

They're all hackable/infectable once someone comes along determined enough to do it. At the moment, the data contained within just isn't valuable enough to malware engineers to seriously try.

That, and the nature of how the software for those systems must generally be approved, means that a malware must spoof the approval. As these systems become more and more powerful and try to replace your home entertainment system and your family pc, the desire to be able to infect them will increase and the techniques will become widespread.

PC, just wait till addons come out and every single PS3/PS4 user is crying because end game guilds wont accept them because they are playing on inferior clients that will not support any addons.
