It's basically a brain thing, all the letters are there but only one letter is different so the natural pattern recognition of the brain fills it in as tombstone, as TOMEstone isn't a word.

Yah the English localization team didn't choose the best word combo for these items lol They make more sense in other languages. They're basically Allagan e-readers.
