Bard +1?

I have about 900 Myths to burn right now. My Bard already has his Myth pants, but hasn't upgraded the Relic yet.

My question is this: People really don't understand how small of an upgrade the Artemis +1 really is. For those of you that have skipped it, are you experiencing any issues getting into shout groups? Do you consider yourself a Bard +1 still, and do you address this caveat?

I was attempting to talk to a monk about this, and his response was, "You never pass up your relic upgrade. Never." As wrong as he is for Min/Max, it makes me worry about the people that don't understand it.

People really do not understand it. When I pug runs I just shout "Relic BRD" and never seem to have a problem. Really the only time It's even came up is when another bard was attempting to call me out for not upgrading before pants and other items.

Many people only go with relic +1 for bards because every idiot shout group requires it or all the other classes get theirs first so they figure bard should too. Depending on your gear it's honestly better to hold off on it till you get several myth upgrades depending on what they are and what you are upgrading. Chest can be considered a bigger upgrade than dl than upgrading the weapon and then the same can be said for belt/ring if you look at it as stat increase per myth spent.

But no our relic sucks in all honesty only because we only get a single dps increase where as all other classes get 2 which is why relic +1 is so much better for them to go after first.

The thing is, it's not THAT small of an upgrade.
No more so than just about any myth piece.

Keep in mind, that list is based solely off an auto attack damage formula that ignores skillspeed, river of blood, as well as numerous other mechanics that affect a group's performance such as limit break damage.

Shirt vs Relic+1 are VERY VERY close.
Just take a look at the values:
Shirt - .003395
Weapon - .003232
Add in skillspeed instead of ignoring it, then add in a slight bump for your group's limit break damage and it's probably even closer than it seems already!

So in my personal opinion, pointing to a list like that as FACT is silly.
And trying to call someone BAD because you think they chose the "wrong" piece first is asinine. (unless they spent their first myth stones on the bracer, in which case feel free to call them bad)

The list is USEFUL, but just as an overview.
It shows you that the bracers are terrible, and the legs/hands/ring might have a slight lead on other pieces.
But it's not like you're gimping yourself if you went with hat first, or chest first. The difference in overall dps choosing one piece over another is TINY. INCREDIBLY TINY.

Really, I would focus on your tights and gloves before anything else.

The +1 upgrade on the bow is pretty small when you consider how much Crit those other two items will add. As you probably know, Crit really is good for those Bloodletters you get to weave in with your combos as well as the general damage that we lay out. The hands and legs have no Crit in DL so the increase is Crit is pretty big.

Also, looking at the +1 compared to the shirt, in DEX: The +1 improves it by 5, while comparing the Shirt to the DL Corselet, the improvement is by 9.

Looking further into the body pieces with Crit, the DL Corselet / Bard's Shirt / Allagan are as follows: 19 / 34 / 24. That's another 10 Crit boost if you choose the Bard's Shirt over the +1. Sooo...with the Bard's Shirt, Ringbands, and Tights, that's a 65 boost in Crit!

Since you're limited with how many tomes you can get each week, I wouldn't worry about the +1 just yet.

Oh, and as far as not getting into groups because of it, I've personally gotten away with "Relic/AF+ Bard" quite often. Give that a shot! ^^

Well. Pants, Hands, Body, Ring, Belt, are better value for your myth tomes. Not sure what you're smoking. Might not be the worst value upgrade for bard, but it's pretty damn far from the best. It's all hashed out in the thread below, the information in the OP isn't quite perfect, but the discussion in the thread gets quite detailed.

One of the important things is maintaining your accuracy as you upgrade into AF2 or Allagan. Many of those pieces drop it for other stats and will bring you down below the accuracy cap for T4/5 of coil.

+1 is a horrible upgrade... It's just an average 14 Dex Upgrade. Get Chest and other stuff first.
