Crafting jobs too easy to level to 50

I am a legacy player and i leveled every job to 50 before 2.0. I must say that leveling crafting (and DoL jobs) to 50 is waaaaaaay too easy. Looking back all the way to FFXI before the level cap was raised past 75, leveling jobs took a long time. It told a very long time to get a relic, it was rare to see compared to the amount of people on the server. Endgame stuff was almost a privilege. After the level cap was raised to 99, the game was a joke. I mean a PLD soloing Divine Might!!! Seriously!!! An alliance of 75 barely stood a chance at it, but it was the biggest challenge.

Now I ready enjoy this game, I have dealt with the changes (good and bad) since 1.0 was released. But if this game is too easy to conquer, then people will quickly leave the game and look for a new one.

Just my opinion, but if this game can be conquered in less then a year, then this game won't last long. The only thing that will keep this games head above water will be expansions. I would recommend making leveling harder (particularly DoH and DoL) so people have something to pursue for a long time. Just my thoughts and I am posting this because I care about the game.

I listen to the players talk about getting 150K for a good leve...and I'm thinking whaaaaat? I good leve in 1.0 means you got 6K at the end. While we had the luxury of having mats provided during leves, it still took effort to complete and level. With the way things are now it may take a week of leveling, when it took weeks to months to level a crafting job. After 1 year of 2.0's release, the majority will have all jobs leveled to 50, which means most DoL and DoH will be worthless as far as gil making is concerned. Things need to slow down in the game.

The title of this thread should actually read "Crafting jobs less tedious to level to 50", because that's all crafting amounted to in 1.0: tedium. Not to mention success rates and HQ rates were at the mercy of the All-Powerful RNG. At least we have (mostly) full control over the crafting process now.

I remember when 1.0 came out and the fatigue bar was the worst thing to have to deal with. I understand they producer didn't want people to level too fast, but to have to wait days to get out of the red zone and at least back into the yellow...terrible. While I hate to see the years I spent grinding to get all the jobs to 50 in 1.0 and now watch fellow players grinding and conquering a job w/i a week, I feel like my time is wasted. The efforts I put have little value because everyone can make everything and I have to rely on the lazy or the folks who stick to a couple jobs who are willing to buy what can be provided in the market.

Again, to the producer, I love the game, it has come a long way since 1.0 started, but leveling is too easy. The game will burn out all too fast and this caught so much attention when 2.0 was released. I mean you were flooded with people who wanted to play.

I do like how we have more control over hqing, but again, get the skills in, learn the pattern...still too easy. Everyone can HQ gear. What is the real value now if everyone has HQ? It used to be something to brag about, now it is a prerequisite. The shouts I see...relics/af2/dl blah blah blah required. Everyone has it...the game is too easy. Getting a relic in 1.0 took a lot of effort and time, in FFXI it took forever. Now, it is no trouble. People can carry you.

I know I am saying a lot so I will stop. Again, I know folks will agree and disagree, but at this rate, the game won't last long.

Something they could do to make crafting more challenging is maybe adds more recipes, possibly 3-4 Star, but make them hard enough that enough if you have enough stats to overpower the RNG, you still need a little bit of luck in order to HQ them.

They could add soulstones for crafters as a way to access the 3/4 star recipes, maybe add in an AF2 system of turning in HQ iitems for points with a weekly point cap like they did with mythology tomes. Add in relic main hands for crafters, it could give crafting some new flare, and as long as they balance the 3/4 star recipes well enough to the point where the AF2/relic is more or less required to even have a chance of HQ'ing them, you could end up seeing up pretty rare/valuable HQ's from those tiers.

1.00 people aren't really the best people to declare the system too easy. We have servers with retainers full of stuff from 1.00 and we smash through it with gil never being a factor.

Go start a naked char on a new server with no legacy carry over, tell me how easy it is. I did just that and I can assure you, those people aren't riding a gravy train.

If you play games to feel more prestigious than other people, rather than to enjoy yourself, you'll always have issues. If you leveled in 1.0 because you enjoyed it and had fun with the game, it should be irrelevant how fast/slow other people level then/now (and you got to enjoy being high level/endgame for years before the new people got there). Basing your enjoyment on the status of others is just a recipe for disappointment - we call that 'keeping up with the Jones' and it rarely ends well.

MMOs used to have long leveling times. Then the games lasted for awhile, expansions came out, the content got extended, and the leveling content's population got sparser and sparser and the playerbase spread out more and more. If you weren't at cap, there were less and less people to play with (not that great of an experience for a new player). Seems they're trying to find different ways to make the game a time sink while still allowing/encouraging the player base to actually interact with each other. Time will tell how well the FFXIV team does on that front.

I agree with OP that leveling DoH jobs (and everything else like DoM/DoW, and getting AF2/relics) is way too easy. Been playing FFXIV for about 1 month, and already have gsm and weaver to 50, with ltw 47 and all other DoH to 35+. It's just far too easy to level them with repeatable leves. Seen alot of players shout that they are all crafts/2star looking for work. Not only that, but all of them guarantee 100% HQ from all NQ mats.

Compared to FFXI's crafting system, this game's alot more fun since you get to control crafting, but it's less rewarding since it's quite easy to level crafts to max level, and players can HQ 100% which kills the thrill which you would get from HQ'ing an item in FFXI. If they were to raise the cap down the road, I hope they make leveling more challenging, and HQ'ing top tier gear much harder and never 100%.
