So basically what you're saying is that a minority of players across multiple servers (in DF of all things LOL) gave you a few bad experiences so the entire community in this game is bad? If you had said that 4/8 people were doing this then you would have a strong point, but I'm willing to bet that it was 1/8 people doing this which makes that person a minority.

Originally in FFXI beastmasters would pull large trains of monsters to NMs in order to kill somebody who had claim on said NM in order to steal it. Eventually the devs responded and made monsters run back to their location but this went on for a good 1 or 2 yrs before the issues were addressed. That's just one example (I can think of A LOT more) to show that every community, even FFXI, has bad apples.

Where are you getting this 49% number? For your average DF group do you have 2/4 people who are assholes? I would call that unlucky, I've done DF probably at least 50+ times and almost every occurrence I had with assholes it's been 1 single person (almost always a tank) who was being rude/left because pt wasn't geared.

I would call that unlucky, I've done DF probably at least 50+ times and almost every occurrence I had with assholes it's been 1 single person (almost always a tank) who was being rude/left because pt wasn't geared.

Most of my problems are with tanks too. However as I'm the healer, it seems only I will/can stand up to them. The DPS are just so happy to have finally have gotten a party they just sit there silent while the tank berates us, too afraid to stand up to them.

No, it's probably not 49%. But it's also nowhere near as low as others are saying. You also have to remember your experiences are yours alone. Just because you haven't encountered nasty people and abuse, it does not mean it don't happen.

I completely agree with you, overall there is a lot of abuse because a large number of gamers do not have empathy towards other players and only care about their own experience. That said, what I don't agree with is that this community is worse than any other online gaming community. There are these types of people in practically every mmorpg and/or other type of online game.

To my knowledge I've never played with this player, but I have encountered all of these problems (among others) which to me suggests it isn't as uncommon as some of you seem to think. If you've never had to deal with bad players then good for you, I'm envious. But don't tell us who have, that everyone in the community is helpful and loving when it's a flat out lie.
