If they were able to spoof you buying the item, and everyone's gil on retainers... I hope the devs make sure they can't spoof to summon "your" retainer to get direct access to your items there.

They aren't planning a rollback but will address all those that got affected by this, and they will take legal action against those who did this.

How do you know they didn't do anything? It may be entirely possible that using third party programs and bots are the caused for this. This game is so easy to bot and the bots are so easily accessible, I wouldn't be surprised if half of the population were botting.

I don't mind the RMT shouting, you'd have to be a whiny little 5 year old if you let it bother you that much. However, the botting and hacking in this game is ridiculous, they need to be fix asap. I have never seen another major MMO that was this easy to hack besides Vindictus, and that was cuz that game was all client-side.

If this only affects people using 3rd party programs, I doubt SE would shut down servers an hour earlier than planned, confirming that there's a security issue with the marketboard and saying they will take legal actions against the exploiters.

They stopped the server to avoid further issues and investigate. I don't think they had the time to do it yet.

This is a thread, but I would like to mention the current situation and actions that we are going to take from this point on.

First of all, a few hours ago, we have received several reports about fraud in certain features of the Market operated by an outside source.
There are not many reports of casualties due to this, but to prevent any further cases, we performed an emergency maintenance.

We apologize for the inconvenience and that this has affected many of our players.
We are verifying the data and promise that everything will be kept safe.

This issue can only be seen in certain Worlds, Zones and circumstances, so it will not affect players that are not logged in.

Once we resolve the issue and assure the safety of the situation, alongside the recovery of the game, we will take action towards the outside fraud source and take security countermeasures.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused.

We are basically planning to correspond to the players whose data was affected.

We have obtained information of the route and IP address of the source and we are planning to take legal actions of this fraud.

InB4 someone mentions that there were not many reports of this, remember statistically speaking that this only affected people near enough to a market board to get hit AND had more than 1M on their person. It is the mass majority of the people reading this forum, but probably not more than a quarter of the affected server population.

On a good note, looks like they will be refunding the affected characters. Cheers!

This might be what happend to me 100k that went missing when i teleported to Limsa Lominsa around noonish (PDT) i had just teleported from Mor Dhona with 100k+ and was leveling bsm so i went back to Limsa to get a leve went to my retainer and i noticed when i pressed start (ps3 version) it said i had 18k i thought the game had bugged me and took 100k teleport fee (one very expensive teleport i tell ya) i didnt think it could have been this ill have to check my history when the game is back up if thats still there

I'm a bit worried now too...I don't exactly have that much gil but I'm wondering if I had some gil taken from me. Only like 50k or so but...I'm not sure if I actually spent that gil and I'm just getting paranoid or if perhaps it was taken. Like Bloodraven said, I too am going to have to check my history. My condolences to those who lost millions...that is not fun at all. Makes me kind of happy I'm a poor person atm

well thank god i spent all my money gearing and powerlevelling my WVR up to 50 last night. only had about 400k in the bank when it went down. i didn't seen any reports of it happening in Lamia. i was sitting in Limsa right at the bell when it went down and nothing was going on in chat, that i noticed.

also: where can you check the history of things you've purchased? i know how to check the retainers for sales but i've never seen a purchase log.

I was sitting around crafting stuff when I went to take a drink. I guess my character was done crafting and that's when IT happened! I'm short of exactly 500k worth of gil! What should I do now?
