Square has been working on multiple mmos for awhile now. This news is nothing new.

Looks up Wakfu, it is in beta atm and will be released soon. And there are a few others.

SE did not make that MMO, or develop on it in anyway, they Published it, in NA.

Only someone seriously lacking in brains would think that a company with the size and resources of Square Enix can only operate a single MMO (and as such the development of another MMO, that probably will have a completely different target, means that FFXIV is going to be in any way abandoned). They have multiple development teams, and plenty capitals to easily run multiple MMORPGs at once, which is exactly what they're aiming to do (as specified by the same source, that the intentionally alarmistic OP conveniently forgot to mention), mind you.

So keep your doom and gloom at bay, and as Hercule Poirot used to say, start using those little grey cells you (supposedly) have.

And by the way, there are already several threads on the topic (each and every one equally senseless), learn to use the search function before posting.
