Diremite/Velveteen What's The Big Deal?

Could always skip the wool stage like I did, just did linen guildleves all the way up to 50. You can get a virtually free, unlimited supply of flax at 31-ish botanist and just auto-synth it into yarn 99 at a time while you do something productive with your life, like read a book, then craft the leve items. Was cheap and easy, if maybe a little slower than some people might want to put up with.

As for the OP on the diremite situation. There used to be something like only 10-ish spawns in the entire game that dropped them, on a 5 min respawn timer, and the droprate was not exactly all that great on top of it. All the spawns were heavily botted by RMTs, and it was hard for any honest players to snag any without going through the market board and basically playing into the hands of the RMT monopoly on them. Since it is a material that is somewhat difficult to level weaver up without, the RMT basically were able to pick their own prices and charge honest crafters an arm and a leg to continue leveling their craft. But the latest mini-update increased droprate, respawn rate, and number of spawns I believe, making them a lot easier to come by now, though the RMT are still pretty rabid about camping them. That's what the big deal was about.

so no answer to my OP then? basically they're not special just everyone camps them thats why they cost so much?

like i said in my OP, i am not worried about obtaining them or the price i was just wondering why they were so expensive in the first place ie. was there something i was missing.. thanks for the replies

You can't go by camped mat's. Everything is camped. Apkulla for the eggs, large buffalo for the milk, Diremites for the webs, Karkul for fleece, Golden fleece for snurble tufts. The price you see is the time it takes to farm them and it never really changes much as you level. I can farm Karakul twice as fast now as what I could when I started. I still get around the same amount of fleece per 30 minute protect buff. Same with Diremite. I can kill them 3 at a time in 15 seconds. I don't get any more webs than what I did when I farmed them at level.

I was very frustrated that I got wvr well into the 30s before I got the leve to give me diremite webs I needed for level 24 gear I ended up making the lv 28 gear before the lv24 gear... which I still wanted since I'm leveling all DoH and DoL. For me, it was much more about the "material to make stuff" than a "leveling" issue

And again, since I'm leveling all DoH, I know that the others don't have this kind of absurd bottleneck at such a low level. I'd be okay if all the DoH had different issues that were balanced, but that really doesn't seem to be the case.

Easiest way to level up to 50 is, do cotton till 30ish with Leves

Then you swap to Flax till 50, you going to do Linen Hat HQ triple turn in for 250k exp till you reach 50

Will need around 2500 Flax for that =) so get your BTN to 31 ^^

I did the Linen Wedge Caps of Gathering to get to 50. It takes a lot more leves, however you get bonus experience since it's also a delivery leve (made me wish the Observitorium had an aethernet crystal) and felt a lot faster. One of the things I hated was the sheer amount of shards that weaving could quickly go through as well as the number of craftings it took to make one piece of equipment, which made doing the triple turn-in leves unbearable.

I've been farming banemites for the webs for days. It's tedious, and the HQ drop rate is astoundingly low. I hates it.

Diremite and fleece is no longer a problem they added more mobs that drop them, but its still far easier to skip both those stages with cotton and linen.

Gotta say though, crafting 47 linen yarns all HQ around level 35-40 is soul riping for one leve

but yeah, you gotta keep an eye on your lightning shard reserves, cause 249 Lightning shards for one leve if you build everything for it, materials and items is alot, of course it's no problem if your rich and can afford tons of shards

It takes 2 undyed linen and 1 linen yarn. That is to say, 4 lightning + 4 lightning, plus the linen yarn. That's 5 linen yarn, at 3 lightning each, for 15 total. 15 to make the yarn, another 8 to make the two undyed linen, is 23. The final product takes another 4 lightning, and 3 wind. 27 lightning, 3 wind, in total, per linen tights, or for those spending the extra time/money getting crow feathers, per linen hat.

27*9=243 lightning.
3*9=27 wind.

Add in the cost of 90 flax off of the marketboard, and you are looking at one mighty fine reason to level botany!
