Tired of Gil Sellers - Stop their Harassment

I feel gil sellers are harassing and wish they could be sued for their activity. I get whispers from different ones frequently and have seen their yells and shouts in chat. I have tried asking the ones that whisper to stop but they get worse.

There is no quick way to report them or block them. What does this say about this game's customer service? I want a report and ignore button or something. I am tired of playing like this.

I really think it is time to start some sort of legal action against the companies that sell online game currency.

I generally just right click their name (which can be hard when they spam every .5 seconds), and go to send em a tell, and then just highlight their name and copy paste it into the blacklist. I really do wish they implemented a right click blacklist function already though. Or just found a better way to get rid of them. I'm up to at least 8 random tells a day now.

Can we please have a way of easily reporting people when using the PS3 to access the game, the whole having to copy everything is pretty time consuming when using a controller. When using a PC version at least reporting is possible on PS3 there isn't even any point when the characters are deleted so quickly after.

Can't we just have a click report option when you highlight the name under "send a tell" etc like other MMO's. As the whole process seems very convoluted to report people when I am averaging a tell every minute when standing in Ul'dah, also the trade chat in Ul'dah was spammed constantly for a good 15 mins on the Behemoth server by the same gil farmer on the same character and nothing has been done!

    Can this please be addressed!

Can make a macro for it or just type it into the chat box.

    1. You're talking about international trade law. These RMTs typically do not exist in countries like USA & Japan where there are laws protecting SE's IP and data (game items/gil).
    2. To bring legal action against them costs SE money.
    3. By banning RMTs as opposed to shutting down their sites, SE gains revenue (RMT buy more accounts).

Pretty much this. Even if they blatantly rip off things (like if someone were to make an FF game that's just different colors and names), it's still a difficult and costly matter to deal with when it comes to international laws, particularly whenever it deals with China or some European countries.

RMT buy more accounts? Aren't they obtaining most of their accounts by hacking into other people's accounts or using stolen credit card info?

Some percentage do, but the majority purchase accounts. The profit margins are high, as your only overhead tends to be a machine capable of running the game, a game account, and a website. Some RMT's employ actual people (for slave wages) to play the accounts in order to keep costs down on having to purchase new accounts because of bot bans, some use bots. All they have to do is average transaction rates higher than the cost of the account (per account) to net profit, and most of the time they can achieve this within a couple of days of an account being created.

As an example of how lucrative the business is: I know a guy who purchased his home ($200k+) solely off the income of bot farming in EQ. He started with 1 bot, and eventually had 18 machines with 18 bots running. He was making a few thousand a week selling gold.

What I want is some meaningful action that I, as a player, can have to stop this. I don't want to make macros, I don't want to spend game time using multiple clicks to prevent some gil, seller, who is breaking rules & harassing me to stop.I want a report and block button or one click action.I am not playing an online game that allows me to be harassed after I ask the person to stop & have to resort so some method that most people probably don't know about anyway.Your comments about RMT buying accounts & not being banned is just your bounce back, witty response. You probably think big corporations are after you also.
