you made it sound like ragequit s*x
Firstly, kudos to SE on achieving 1.5 million. Second, the ones saying "the game is dead" and other doom and gloom, what are you smoking? Balmung still gets queues when logging into characters. Every city is filled with active people. Every zone has tons of players running around, yes many are also fate grinding. Duty Finder is very active. I'd have to say the game is in way better shape than WoW is at the moment. As for bots, yes they suck, but they no where near 200k. I'd say addressed bots is somewhere around maybe 10-20 per server. About 30 NA/EU servers, and about 31 Japanese servers for a total of 61 servers, and even at 20 per server that's still no more than 1,220. So bot accounts probably range anywhere from 1k-3k tops.
Second, Yoshi a while back said major content patches would be about every 3 months after launch. So that would put 2.1 somewhere around november. And so far Yoshi is saying still around november. So possible will be about maybe mid to late november. But I still have plenty to do. I only recently hit level 50 on white mage. I still intend to level my other classes. I still need to do the primal HM's for the story. So this content will last me well into 2.1. I am in this game for the long haul. It's a good solid game. And the nay sayers cannot convince me otherwise, especially when I can login at any time of day and see full zones even queues to login.

Well, it's nearly 2 months after launch and I'm not hearing/seeing the same exit talk that I did for SWTOR, so that's a good thing.
About this thread, two comments. First, only SE *knows* the state of the game. Individuals, especially from the same world, can only know how busy their world seems, and maybe even only certain areas of that world. Was SE counting active accounts? Actual subscribers? We don't know but that changes every month.
Second: People. It's not enough that a person or his friends don't like the game and decide to quit. Some people seem to need "proof" that it's a "disaster". Maybe these are the kind of people who get disappointed that a weather disaster didn't kill more people than it did, I don't know. Plus gamers aren't exactly accurate. Diablo 3? Some will swear it was a failure, yet it sold 12M total, 2M copies during holidays 6 months after release, and just ported to consoles (~1M sales so far?).
ye man of little faith. It's just because they sourced famitsu, that omits that part, probably because they don't have any idea of the relevance of the patch and just went for the big number. That's what you can expect from most generalist sites that don't know a game well. On the other hand 4gamer (which always has some very solid MMORPG coverage) has the full info, for instance. Here's another source that vouches for the 1.5 million number: http://www.siliconera.com/2013/10/25...8Siliconera%29
However no mention of the release date of 2.1, Kinda makes me think that it was just an assumption they made.

The part in the bluish rectangle is actually the official press release in full.
"2013年12月にはPatch 2.1の大型アップデートも控えており"
"Large patch 2.1 is also coming in December 2013"
There's no assumption involved. At all. It's kinda silly that I have to go look for another source when reporting on an official press release.

Good thing i had some popcorn when I came in lol
The deal with MMO's is people leaving and resubbing when new content comes out. After Twintania has been downed, there's nothing left for most players to do so they'll leave until the next content patch and follow the same philosphy until the next patch comes out.
There's nothing wrong with people letting their subs lapse when there's nothing to do. The problem is letting their subs lapse and never coming back because the game is never getting anything new.
The initial hype is gone is why. The new game smell is wavering away.
You know how every MMO has the rush of people, then it start declining.
But it's not hitting the rocky roads yet. It will in December if this is when 2.1 comes out but not horribly.
But the news is, it'll only diminish for a month, then you get people coming back. You just have to pray and hope
that the content will release with lots for people to do for another 3-4 months. Eventually, people won't bothering subbing if
they release boring things like "New Primal Modes." That's not interesting to me. It's not new, it's a rehash of a Primal fight.
And I don't want to deal with Titan's silly ass anymore lol.
3 modes max and no more. I hope this game turns out really really fun in later patches. We just gotta wait till
like...2.5 for thing to get super interesting.
People don't understand that most MMO gamers put a lot of hours into a MMO after buying it, and then they start playing it less, gradually, as they sink into a routine. This of course reduces density. Considering that, the fact that many servers still have regular queues (i can't have an evening without one) is impressive.
I don't know about the game dying, but i did fates in Eastern Thanalan yesterday and it was pretty bare during prime time. Which is odd for a friday. No que to log in as well. I think for the chain fate with the rat guys, there were like 5-6 people. I have noticed that the areas i go to are not very populated, but i just assumed they were off doing other things, like dungeons and such. I guess only time will tell.![]()
