A little disappointing to me, but it's not surprising. I figured there would be some sort of catch to be honest.

I think the problem people have with this situation is because of the fact in XI we had a mog house, people figured SE would logically carry over that into XIV then further expand upon it. Believe it or not many loved decorating the heck out of their MH and would have killed to have a "full sized" MH to call their own (or with a significant other.)in FFXI everyone had a mog house but it was just a single room and there wasn't much really you could do with furniture but get slight bonuses with them. In FFXIV you get a whole house and you can interact with some of the stuff and it will be worth it to have a house. So I understand why having a individual house will come later and not as soon as 2.1 is released.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Isn't that exactly what SE is doing? Just not in 2.1.I think the problem people have with this situation is because of the fact in XI we had a mog house, people figured SE would logically carry over that into XIV then further expand upon it. "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
I knew we were getting FC housing first, so that doesn't surprise me. That said, 6 months after!? Is that confirmed, or you guys just taking guesses?
If that really is the case, I'm extremely dissapointed.Between this, and no vanity slots for a long while, I regret paying 6 months up front lol.
Inb4 someone tells me those are silly things to care about. They are not just silly things to me. Those are two of the features I want most in this game, of all the live letters I would watch those were the two largest selling points to me. Not having them for such a lengthy amount of time negatively impacts the enjoyment I have while playing.
Some people act like SE can just wave a wand and all content will be added instantly. Too funny.
All this "I'm disappointed" because it will come later?
There is a good solution, do a FC on your own and the house is yours alone.
No need to wait for individual housing.
why is everyone so upset?
simply put the lack of anything that resembles end game CONTENT (not a few dungeons to repeatedly beat for bobbles) means that housing one of the most awaited for features of this game becomes the "Raison d'etre" for many players who don't want to do nothing but grind the last few dungeons as well as the players who have already gathered everything from those dungeons. also the players who have advanced crafting to the 2 star level who have pretty much realized how useless crafting currently is want something to do with their crafts beyond make a few materia items (housing is in fact the real crafting endgame which should have existed at launch not 9 months after launch)
do FC alone? hmm guess you can ask 3 people to sign for an FC but how will you level an empty FC?
market effects of housing? since the markets are near pointless unless you are selling the half a dozen items with any value (tomb bought will soon be just as cheap as gathered items) the housing will be the only items with any value at all.

We all need to take into consideration of how much is involved in personal player housing. FC housing is already going to cause a huge amount of chaos and that is going to be a house between several people.
They need to calculate the market affects of adding player housing.
Not only that, they need to make sure that player housing and everything involved in and around it is working properly.
Also one item can cause a glitch in the game, bringing the entire game down. We have to keep in mind that things are not linear here. It is like a spider web. You cut or break a string in the web and you can do a lot of damage. If they released it in 2.1 and it was causing poor game play, you would be right back here making threads about how poorly designed player housing was or how it is severely crippling the game play.
Just be patient. Before you know it, player housing will be here. FC housing is almost here and it wasn't even at launch and yet we made it this far.
I think several people here need to take a deep breath, unsubsrcibe for a little bit and maybe come back to the game later. People are really getting bent out of shape for something they were already told would be coming later and that is still in development.
It's cute you think you're the developer that gets to decide what content should be released first and when. But you are not. You are the customer. And contrary to the horribly false "The Customer is Always Right" statement, very few of you actually knows what would be best for the game.
If this is causing you so much anxiety and you don't know if you can "be entertained" or "not get bored", then leave. Seriously, take a break. If you're not having fun then why are you even here?
