Fate monsters die instantly, you don't learn anything about hate management. Party fates don't have anything relevant to contribute to knowing how to operate in a party environment, where you have healer, dd, and tank. Take a fate party, which is typically all dd's, and put them in a dungeon, and they couldn't clear it because they don't have the relevant classes.

You take away fate, and people will party because it's how you xp. People will also learn how to play in a party, and you won't see all these "how do you get to xx level without knowing how to play" threads.

Nothing is stopping you from grabbing a group of people close in level and grinding on mobs higher level than the group. You can still chain and get tons of exp, and there have been numerous reports of people doing just so. This is already a perfectly acceptable way of leveling, but people just aren't doing it very much. The only thing SE could do here is add a method to level sync to the party leader or something so that its easier to form a group at the same level.

Level sync is something needed. Stupid that you can level sync in dungeons, duties and FATEs, but can't anywhere else. Would love to be able to play my high level characters with my lower level friends.

No, no and more no. I hate level sync, it annoyed me in GW2 and it'll annoy me here. Why work for a high level if you just get sync down anyway? It works in Dungeons & FATEs but not for killing mobs.

What's the difference? Why does allowing a party to level sync outside of a dungeon or fate harm anything? If you have a friend that gets the game and you have full 50s... that limits you to just doing dungeons and fates with them. Boring... you can't experience the other 80% of the game with them because you are a 50.

It would help if you could actually find high level mobs out in the field. Once you're at cap it becomes a bit more difficult getting chains up which are what you need to make an XP party worth while.

I would rather have party grinds as well but what can you do.

Maybe as the game progresses in age there will be dungeons for every level which would be more like party grinding of old.

What if a person wants to play with a friend of a different level? What if you want to help a FC member with something? There are plenty of reasons a high level character might want to sync down. This option would also extend the lifetime of lower level content over the course of the game's run. AND, for people like yourself, it would be optional, thus you could choose NOT to level sync. If this were implemented though, it should only be a party option. A high level player playing alone should not be able to sync down to a lower level.

This is one thing that i don't really understand about the OP's supposition. You are asking for EXP parties to be viable, because it will allow players to more naturally learn the skills necessary at higher levels. But at higher levels, the difficult content comes in the form of dungeons, raids, and trials - all of which use non-standard party mechanics. FFXI style EXP parties (which is what I presume the OP is referring to) teach you about your roll, but in a very restricted context.

The most natural way to learn a skill is to repeatedly use that skill in the context it is meant to be used. Therefore, the best practice for dungeons would be lower level, easier dungeons that slowly scale in difficulty, would it not? This is something we already have, but in a non-optimal form. As has been said already, rather than eliminate FATEs, the best way to get people to learn their roles is to re-incentivize (this is so far off from a real word, I don't even know where to start, but oh well) dungeons.

What you are proposing, OP, is the way you want to learn to play your job. But your proposition is demonstrably less effective at teaching people their roles than systems already in the game. Now, I'll fully recognize the need to make these systems more appealing when compared to FATEs, but that is another discussion entirely. And lets not get started on whether or not Dungeons and FATEs are more, less, or equal fun as FFXI parties. I make no comment towards that; rather this is just my thoughts on a serious flaw in the OP's thesis.

Make those fate bosses a HNM or NM like in old XI days (i know everyone despises and hate XI)
But let them be killed like fates everyone can cooperate for the kill and even if they trow a heal they get a little bit of reward
    (Exp,gil,seals,tomes)

    But fates aside

I tried old school party in cohertas at lv 33 as a 4 man party just for the lulz
Out setup was whm war blm and brd and let me tell u it worked it was slow as hell but it worked
The exp wasnt that good 120-250 max if they buffed exp for 4-6 man partys in all areas people will learn their jobs and play efficiently
Also is another good way to prepare for dungeons and endgame in a more efficient way

EDIT: someone said that the better way to learn the skills is repeatedly (typo?) use the skill?
But what about some player that even understand their own abilitys
I had a tank in the wanderers palace and amdapor keep who didnt know about flash or shield lob
Only did fast blade- savage blade- rage o halone ober and over and over

I bet that guy didnt even read the description of the skill
    But in goin to far

I myself am guilty of fating on some degree (dark devices and go go gorgimera)
But after that i leveled my jobs on dungeons and sone lolpartys i made
Because thats what i was acostumed for (typo typo everywhere)
