I've been offline for 5 days because I was so irritated by the lag. I was expecting it to have been fixed and it's STILL like this.
Guess I'll be offline and cancelled until I get word that it's fixed. It's UNPLAYABLE.

It's friggin annoying when others think i'm a bad player because i get hit by stuff that blew up few seconds ago and i was out of range :/

Exactly the same as the above. For me, the game is unplayable.

Was trying to level monk last night in coerthas, it wasn't happening. I play on ps3.
I couldn't see any enemies at all to get credit for the fates. I would run in and stand there waiting
And nothing would show and the fate would end. Can't even describe how pissed I was.
I paid for my game and I am paying for my subscription and I expect my game to run properly.
I want a response from SE or I'm leaving end of story.
I refuse to pay for an unplayable game.

No, really. just because people stop posting doesn't mean the issue is resolved. They've probably already unsuscribed or are too frustrated to even bother playing or coming to the forums. I too have the same issue and it's really frustrating running away from red circles as soon as I see them then the game telling me "Oh no you didn't!" *gets hit anyways/dies* while watching others take their sweet little time to avoid AoEs and not getting hit by them, haha. Gosh. Fix this already.
This person is speaking sense and the truth. Thank you, Tyla.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-from-SE/page9

Getting an absolute and complete /SIGN for me. All caps for emphasis.
I participated in the PS3 Beta Test and played from the start date through the free trial. While the Beta test was fine, post release was wrought with latency and lag issues that made it impossible to play.
I thought the problem had been solved a few weeks ago when things were running smoothly, but then dungeon runs proved me wrong, and I was unable to advance my story line any further. It was then that I decided not to subscribe, but that I would keep tabs on the game so that, should SE fix the issue, I would re-join once more.
I want to play this game. But the truth is that, due to their server issues, I can't. And that's it, put simply.
You do a large portion of fans a huge disservice by having an unplayable game. It's like being forced to window shop.
I bought the game about a week ago and noticed right away that something was wrong, but I assumed it was just a temporary issue with the servers. However, after checking around on the forum I realized that it's a lot worse than I first expected.
Avoiding AoE is nothing but a big fat lottery for me. Sometimes I avoid them, sometimes I don't. It doesn't matter if I'm standing inside or outside the red zones. I also have to add that playing a melee class is a huge pain because with this lag it's almost impossible to hit a moving target. You get a message saying the taget is not in range 9 out of 10 times. You have to run next to the mob and spam your buttons and pray that it will go off sooner or later. I've tried almost every large MMO that was released during the last 5-10 years and never befor have I experienced anything like this. Not even close.
I've been a long time fan of the Final Fantasy series, going back all the way to FF7, and I had high hopes for this game. It has a lot of potential and I would love to continue playing, but there's just no way I will pay for a subscription while the game is so horribly broken. I will quit playing when my free month expires if no solution has been presented until then.

Today, sunday, for the first time I had to stop to play.
It was 1831 hour of Paris.
I died because of an aoe far from my raise point.
At that moment I had lag spike between 1-4 seconds.
I repoped in Ul'dha and decided to craft because of the bad conditions.
I used Inner Quiet and it took quite long to show.
So I decided to count the seconds and then used Steady Hand.. it took 13 seconds to pop. Voila, but I was in the market of Ul'dha.
Most people in this thread seem to not be realizing that this lag is mostly out of Square Enix's control. They can ask the providers with the problem to fix it, but the provider has no obligation to do anything, nor is it likely that they will.
I have the same problem as you guys. I'm getting around it by using a VPN to avoid the problematic routers. This is all that we can do, aside from spamming our ISPs and asking them to stop routing us like this.
