The economics are one thing, I'd be more interested to hear how he supposedly beat the rest of the server to level 50 Miner by a week without botting, especially since he was competing with bots.

I'd assume he was mining loads on release / early access. Same could be said about those who hit 50 in a 3/4 days.

Bots don't do leve's (loads more exp if he used all his for mining) nor would they optimise their time mining.

They also would not gear up in order to get more items/hq rate, aka more exp, nor would they quickly move to the next best exp spot. I expect they also gather slower time for time.

I doubt bot's could even gather rare nodes (what Kevin was selling), due to long time between spawns / different locations etc etc etc.

The big flaw in this of course is, DoW and DoM don't make Darksteel Nuggets, crafters do and in ARR leveling craft without a DoL is pretty much impossible. If this was a Legacy server, you weren't the only one with 50 DoL. You just weren't.

So while you leveled Miner to 46, someone else was leveling all variants of craft to 50, getting gear from all the other crafts to meet required Craftsmanship and Control and doing the storyline to get a DoW or DoM and spiritbonding Materia IV and some how beating the RnG and getting the coke and the ... yea. I think maybe you made your gil fair OP? But I don't think it worked out quite the way you decided

I don't care who makes the stuff, it was made by those crafts. They had to be leveled.

I didn't read your whole post but it doesn't take much more than common sense to realize that server-first high level crafters/gatherers would be filthy rich because they have complete control over the market for endgame materials, most notably for pre-relics.

too true, by comparison, the price of darksteel ore on Hyperion is something like under 200 gil, mostly because as a legacy server, we have plenty of max level gatherers already.

Cactuar is not a legacy server and yes I was the first 46+ on server, I was getting litteraly spammed with lvl 50s asking for the darksteel ores for their relics, not the mention the ones I sold on market.
