I blame you all for getting Triple Triad stuck in my head. And I blame the late hour for this...

* Triple Triad - it's a new, non-combative class! Equip a deck of cards and you're ready to play. Similar to how it worked in FF8 with the four numbers in the upper left hand corner (ranks) depicting the card's strength. 1 is the lowest strength while A is the highest. (A comes right after 9).

Sample card:
-------
4 6
-----
7 5
-------

* At the start of a match, you pick 5 cards from your deck to use in the match and your opponent picks 5 cards from his deck. You can't see what cards your opponent has chosen and vice versa.

* All cards have an optimal rank; using one too far above your level reduces the effectiveness of the card. (The ranks decrease depending on the level difference; lower numbers do not decrease as much as higher numbers.)

Cards are split between the following types:
- Regional cards (landmarks, cities, camps, etc.)
- Monster cards
- Harvesting Cards
- Crafting Cards
- whatever else

1) Regional cards are stronger if played in that region. You get a chance to win these cards from guards in the various regions/camps.

2) Monster cards can be either bought from a vendor (like starter packs -- your basic, most common cards), earned by killing monster (random, uncommon drop) or through various quests. Getting a monster card is only half of the fun though! Switch to a combat class and kill monsters whose card you hold to imbue their essence into that card, making it slightly stronger. Kill enough monsters and maybe something special will happen to your card! o.O

Don't forget, certain monsters intimidate others. Always try to play a stronger monster against a weaker one.

All cards have a starting level and a maximum level. A weak Coblyn card would never reach A rank (the highest strength) from killing thousands of Coblyns, but its status can be improve. (One or two of the ranks will randomly increase by one after imbued enough.) Cards are powered up by various tasks. Monster cards by killing monster, crafting cards by crafting, regional cards by completing leves in that region, etc.

Cards either have no element associated with them, a single element or multiple ones allowing for another level of interaction between the cards. Always play a stronger element against a weaker one.

Every five Triple Triad levels or so you get an ability that you can equip with a combat class that improves the rate of imbuing for certain monster types (seedkin, cloudkin, etc.) or increases the drop rate based on of a monster type. Crafters and Harvesters can trade in Guild Mark points for similar abilities.

To gain class experience you play, play, play! With other players and NPCs. Plenty of bored guards standing around with not much else to do. Maybe players too... hmmmm. Games can be played for just fun, money or ::gasp:: each other's cards.

And like any other class, every few levels gets you new skills. Oh boy! Off the top of my head:
• Well-rounded -- A temporary boost to the lowest value of the card about to be played while slightly reducing the highest rank on the card. Effect lasts one to two turns.
• Tipsy - Temporarily turn the rank of a card on its side, rotating every value to the right by one. Effect lasts one to two turns.
• Null and Void - Temporarily remove all the elements from a card.
• No More Secrets - All cards are uncovered, yours and your opponents.

Be careful when playing higher level players. They're tricky! Want to steal all your cards.

Eh... that's all I've got for now. Enjoy!
