According to Yoshida and the developers blog, PvP will require completely different gear and come with a completely different set of skills for each class.
So I'm not really sure you can claim that Bards will be OP in PVP before even seeing the new skillsets or gear...

I dont think they can completely change all skills. one thing I am worry is Yoshida may only play bard just like Jay only play barb in diablo 3. when director didn't play all the class, the class balance is not easy. bard is well designed, only support class with top DPS. Make them high demand over tank and healer for end game content.

People have a tendency to over simplify issues by pointing at just one aspect of the whole. It's true that 100% ranged mobility does not alone make a class op, but it is obviously a big advantage. What makes bard op is the combination of all the factors. When a class with the best utility in the game is also the one with the easiest and most convenient form of dps then it clearly is op. This is for pve only because pvp will be completely broken if we get it without fixing the current net code issues.

I grasp it, my problem is that I don't have access to the code to fix it. We need certain moves getting charge times like Heavy Shot and Bloodletter (for examples, because both moves already show a charging up for the animation), and an overall damage output drop (hopefully 10% at the most). I just hope they also make the songs more useful and get rid of that damage reduction on them in return, because for right now I see no point in using any of them, and for a support class, it makes no sense that all of my support abilities are that useless until endgame. Not once have I continually used a song since becoming a Bard, and that makes no sense.

Maybe it is possible Square intended and thought people would use songs more (so that 20% loss in damage would be more noticeable). If a song was up 80% of the time, figure in 20% loss to those numbers everyone is talking about and the dps would be closer. What they really need to do is completely restructure it, ive decided. And have a DPS Archer - call it Ranger or something, and a support Bard - two advanced classes not just one. Have the Ranger do DPS on par with other DPS, and while the bard can still do DPS some, can have one buff song and one debuff song on mobs at the same time, for certain amounts of time (so they have to be recast). I personally like my bard friends just the way they are now, but the QQing is getting horrible. (Again, i havent heard anyone say nerf WHM in comparison with Scholar..... It isn't about making WHM worse, its about making scholar better and fixing pet UI)

Meh dont bother, many people come here because they failed with their class and come here blaming other classes that are simple.

Here you can see a top monk dps on titan, also many monks are saying that they can do even more dmg near 300dps...i always go to coils and have a friend monk who rapes caduceus.

There are several good points on both sides here but I am still failing to see why everyone has a problem with it. Is it simply because of Party make up and DF Q'ing???? If not for that...what are you complaining about?? If someone will not play with you because of your class then don't play with them...join a LS or FC where people will be fair to you and not be jerks. In the FC I am part of we let anyone in the party who wants to play assuming we are not trying to take like 5 tanks or something silly like that and we do just fine clearing content and have not had any issues so far. So sound off and tell me why you want it changed so bad? How is it hurting you I guess is what I am looking for. Thanks.

So imbalance is fine because you can just play with people who don't care about performance? To me that is ridiculous but of course everyone is free to have their own opinion. But if that is truly the position you hold then why would you oppose changes? If class performance makes no difference to you shouldn't you be completely neutral on the subject? I mean nerfs won't affect you at all so why go through the effort of opposing them?

You guys talk about stuff you clearly didnt tested. BRD in coil is fine, other dps destroy us on parser. MNK, BLM's and DRG usually do better then us damage wise. Our job is to dps and give the song utility to the raid. 90% of the people talking and whining here is still wiping on titan.

I dont know if nerfing dps is necessary. In PvE, a weaker bard means having a weaker group. The issue is not so much that Bard is too strong, its that melees are not really wanted in endgame groups, so they have to change those classes and make them more desirable.
When they change bard, they should focus on aspects that makes it less desirable to have MULTIPLE bards and instead pick other classes for spot 2-4, so probably less stackable skills/songs.
