The mark grind at 50 is the most monotonous experience I've ever had in an MMO.

This post was originally intended to be (and originally written as body text) here, but it ended up being 5 times too long.

In essence, repeatedly running a level 49 story quest at max level to grind marks (tomes) at 50 is boring, understimulating, repetitive, lacks challenge, and is all-around awful.

Agreed, you run CM or AK, Prae if you can get a competent group...we really need 2-4 dungeons to get both kinds of tombs (equivalent amount compared to time invested) and then 2-4 more which give only lesser tombs. SE has said they are working to alleviate this bore-grind but it's in the form of a daily-dungeon....lame

Asian grinders are a niche, and like any other niche it has its fans. FFXI was a grindfest like you couldn't imagine- it put Aion to shame. Changing FFXIV to be different would be a slap in the face to the fanbase that grew to love the grind so much.

And as for monotony- so far this is WAY more diverse of a grind than XI was. =D If THIS is breaking you, you're probably not going to enjoy this game very long.

Oh boo hoo I have to grind if I want to reach end game content. OP has obviously never played any FF game ever made in history. There is the story, then there is end-game content. If you think you can jump from end of story to end-game without a grind you are obviously sorely mistaken. Welcome to Final Fantasy. How many people went straight from the story to killing the weapons in FFVII (or any other FF game?). None, thats how many.

So here's your options:
1. Grind and reach end-game.
2. Pick up other jobs and take them to 50, hoping that future content releases will more befit your ADHD so that you may progress without any determination or discipline.
3. Complain on the forums and then quit.

Wow. You really are an arrogant little p***k, aren't you. I hope you're not a "shining example" of FFXIV's players, because a game filled with nothing but people like you is going to be pretty ugly. And they say WoW has a bad community.

The OP's concern is that, presently, there IS NO ENDGAME, other than grinding the same dungeon over and over again. The hope is that SE realizes that their game is being played by more than the usual grind-til-you're-blind fans they've become accustomed to, and will release actual content for endgame. Otherwise, FFXIV will become just another asian grindfest, instead of realizing its full potential.

FFXIV was designed for casuals and hardcores. There has to be a line that separates the two and the grind is that line. If you don't like it just face the facts that you are a casual player and stick with the content that you enjoy. Just because he is not geared for endgame doesn't mean that there is no endgame. His point is invalid because even if he were geared, I seriously doubt he could hold his own weight in BCoB. The end game content was purposefully designed to weed out a very large percentage of players, and by the looks of this thread, it is working as intended.

Also, cry me a river. You either have what it takes or you don't.

1. The devs said very few people will ever make it into BCoB before 2.1.
2. There is a whole tier of armor and dungeons that is missing that is the progression into BCoB (Crystal Tower).
3. Only the hard core players are doing BCoB right now, they're the only ones that love the grind and have the time to invest. The rest of us casual/mid core players are just now reaching HM Primals and doing the repeatative runs of AK/CM/Prae.
4. Now, when 2.1 gets here in November most of us Mid Core players should have already completed Titan and have Full DL and Relics. Crystal Tower will be released and that will be the End Game content we'll move into before doing BCoB... More Turns will be released in BCoB so those people already doing it can progress farther and Crystal Tower will probably be a walk for them.

What a miserable wretch must one be to purposely equate a valid demand for variety in endgame max level content with asking for handouts. If this display of inability in what is a simple case of reading comprehension is all you have to offer, I wonder what skills you might otherwise lack.

It wouldn't hurt to have 2-3 alternatives to Amdapor, for example, with equal time commitment required, that would net the exact same reward. That way, you are still required to grind, but wouldn't erode a normal person's psyche with the mind-numbing boredom that is currently expected to satisfy the player base.

Also, I should like to mention that it is a grave mistake to confuse dedication/determination with a potential to endure lackluster content ad nauseam. Please don't try to further troll posters that dare utter a valid concern. It is considered bad manners and widely frowned upon. Shoo.
