Most dog's shed. However, Dogs don't exactly try to rub their hair all over your like cats do. I'll be standing there and some cat will rub his fur aaaaaall over my pant legs. "Thanks! I needed to do laundry!" <(>.<)>

You can keep dogs off the furniture. Good luck with cats though! lol Most of my friends have cats. I go over their house and I think when I don't give them the 100% attention they're accustomed too, they feel at liberty to abuse me or cause a scene. Here we're discussing the history of Eorezan wall murals and the cat walks in, flops down licks her crotch and the looks at us expectantly...

Pulling cat tails sounds fun though, I'll try it!

You can actually teach most cats to stay off particular pieces of furniture, it just takes considerably more effort than it would with a dog. When I lived with my grandma a few years back, we had our cats mostly trained to stay off of stuff like the table/counters. Mine, being the smart ass thing she is, would occasionally still get up there about the time I came home, giving me a defiant "What are you going to do about it?" look, which was promptly remedied by projectile car keys. However, neither of them got on the above furniture when my grandma was around. Mine apparently respects the elderly better than the person that had kept her fed for 7 years.

Disclaimer: No cats were harmed by the above 'projectile car keys'
