SE Banning players with large amounts of gil?

I know people on legacy servers that had well over 10,000,000 gold (from my old Shell)
Which was reduced to 1,000,000 during ARR. They reached 10mil gil through crafting and selling, and are NOT BANNED.

This automatic ban for having lots of gil seems like a fabricated farse by a banned player.

Your on a legacy server, 99.9% of people who made a reply / post that they got suspended were on a non-legacy server. (Repost). I did not see anyone on a legacy server say they got suspended (although I may have missed it) here and on the reddit thread.

Don't believe me? Go read the other post and look at the servers their characters are on, nobody (or a very very small minority that I missed) posted being on a legacy server and getting banned.

I'm sure a lot of the people here will be un-suspended, but I'm sure close minded people like yourself will still label us cheats.

Please trust me on this. There will be plenty of people that didnt get banned that understand whats going on and really feel for you peeps that did earn ur gil the right way and got temp ban It is truly a sad day... but there is light in the dark tunnel.

While this seems like an extreme way of dealing with this issue, the issue itself if pretty extreme and needs to be dealt with asap. Im not agreeing with SE on the way they are going about this, but at least u can give them props that it is a very aggressive solution and who knows, maybe they will compensate those that got wrongly banned. Try and see the positive in it

It has already been confirmed by people calling SE over the phone that mass blankets were handed out to people above a certain threshold. The numbers are approx >8mil on non legacy and >2mil on new servers.

ends justify the mean huh, people pay to be able to play the game and get punished for, playing the living economy SE wanted you to play. But its alright be positive they might compensate you

Its funny how people still siding with se even though it is clear what theyre doimg is wrong. Suspending players just because of stupid assumptions isnt right specially for a pay to play game.

They have to have proofs before taking a paying customer's right to play. And just by having lots of gil is not a legitimate proof

They did this pretty often in FFXI too. Not always for people over certain gil caps but sometimes even with people who had seemingly obtained unreasonably large amounts of items in a short enough period of time that they were almost certainly botting. For example if someone fished for 48 hours straight, 99.9% of the time, this would be a bot.

In some very rare cases out there, there might be ONE person who got banned along with the batch of RMT who was in fact completely legitimate and just had really bad insomnia and/or were in a lot of pain and thus wanted to do something mindless while they were stuck awake, but you see the generalization they go through? In this scenario that one non bot person probably would get their account back after they responded to the ban with a call to Customer Service or whatever.

The way they do it, generally means that relatively few legitimate players get caught in their nets, but a few inevitably do. These people are not the norm, and are usually very stand-out people capable of withstanding the kind of tedium that normally only bots can, and/or are capable of going without sleep for days at a time to farm/craft more.

Long story, short: Usually the mass bans take out a HUGE chunk of RMT while only impacting a very small percentage of truly legitimate players, and in almost all cases the non RMT get their accounts back.

Agree with you mostly, but the most annoying part of this is that we are being kept in the dark.

All we got was an email saying we had broken the rules by botting/RMT'ing etc (I've honestly done none of this, for what my word is worth lol).

One of the Staff should at least say what they are doing, why they are doing it and a time scale.

It's probably already been answered but the whole 1,000,000 gil thing sounds ridiculous. I had 13 million gil in 1.0 which carried over to 1.3 million when the game launched. I've dropped to 500K but worked my way back up since launch back to 1.4 million by selling HQ items on the market boards. And yeah honestly it doesn't seem like THAT much considering things are quite pricey on Legacy servers. Had this amount existed on a new server then I'd definitely raise a red flag.
