Maybe they could implement something like the sphere theatre in FFX, where you could pay x (20,000?) amount of gil to unlock the various movies and songs in the game. This could provide a much needed gil sink as well as the requested functionality.

I completely forgot about the "much-needed" gil sink aspect. That's a really good point too.
