While we certainly wanted more customizable crafted gears, I'm pretty sure none of us asked for making said crafted gear made pointless by easymode dungeon gears and massive artificial cost increase.

Why?
I mean I rarely stare in bewilderment at my screen but why the flying forge would being able to dye Dropped armor be a bad thing? I can see Materia needing to be "Balanced" In some way, but seriously what would making them dyable do except make a large portion of players happier and maybe stay the wave of Clones you see at level 50?
Half of this game is Vanity like most MMOs(Pets, Mounts, etc), So I simply cannot understand why dyes should not be allowed on high end gear. I can see the argument for AF/Relic gear holding water what with em being FF history etc... But the other stuff... Should absolutely at the least be dyeable.
I like Darklight Armor, It looks nice, But I'd personally prefer it in a Dark Purple or a Red. I have those options on my Grandma Robes, but the few pieces of gear that actually look good and I'd care about dye-ing are undye-able... and that just sad. Nothing negative can come from allowing Dropped/Bought Green Tier+ Armors to be dyed.

Honestly, I don't see the point in the fact alot of sets aren't dyable nor can you put materia in them.
Materia-able items have a stat cap anyway, you can't go over a certain amount of 1 stat in that item regardless, so really, I don't see a point if every item is stat capped at a certain hardcap anyhow.
ALso there are a very few green sets that drop you can dye, I personally have been able to dye the Siphani set from Wanderer's Palace.
Honestly it mostly feels like DoH wanting to feel more and more special, they can already craft and materiaze items that are better than Darklight, why not corner the market on customization as well?
When all is lost,
All is in vain.
When Good and Evil,
Unite in pain.
Rivers of swords must join as one,
Only then shall the spell be undone.
Personally I hate the materia system, just the fact you need to level crafting to meld them in is a pain..
Also can't dye armor like darklight.. Sadness.

Yeah, it's so annoying that crafters are good for something right? I hate things that make stuff useful. Everything should be handed to me on a silver platter!
You realize you don't have to level a craft and you can just make someone else who likes crafting do it for you right?
qq that escalated quickly. Sure silver platter that all around, grind to Convert it, grind to Meld it. grind grind grind.Yeah, it's so annoying that crafters are good for something right? I hate things that make stuff useful. Everything should be handed to me on a silver platter!

Crafters should be good because they are able to craft gear people want made, not because of a gemming mechanic that is barely supported at end-game... They need to continue supporting crafters at end-game by putting in Recipe drops from bosses, so crafters can supply FC members (or others) with gear in future dungeons.Yeah, it's so annoying that crafters are good for something right? As for the dye issue.. The dye-system was a great idea, but it's poor planning on their part for them to only let you dye the stuff that you'll never wear at end-game. It's all well and good that my plain looking leveling robe is dyed my favourite shade of blue.. but that means nothing if i try to do end game. Armour that's meant purely for PvE should not be restricted at all in a game with a dye system; PvP armour is a different story, as visual queues are key in pvp fights, but that's another thing altogether right now.
And then for the 2-piece armour system, what will happen when vanity slots come in? Will we only be able to use equipment in vanity that uses those two slots? If that's the case, then that's another strike against customization for the game.
