A Healer Talks About Tanks

@Alex, if you had a PLD that never used Flash sound almost like trolling or the PLD was using a borrowed account.

BUT the healers and even dps i play with use all their skills not just dps spells or healing, so ask yourself did you try to sleep the adds, did you use the knockback etc and so on before you died.

Good tanks makes it easy to play DPS and/or healer and the tank is the class most prone to carry a group, but it doesnt makes excuses for dying with your CDs not on cooldown etc.

Anyway, the point i was trying to make is that if your DPS were awesome, and you as a healer were awesome, you should be able to carry the Tank.

Not disputing your horrible experience and that the outcome could have been different, but a "bad" Tank often highlight the flaws of the entire group

Overall i am pretty happy with the tanks skill level in this game. I dont have a lot of bad experiences with tanks not doing their job well.
However i have unfortunately seen a lot more bad sportsmanship and bad attitude coming from tanks than any other role. I think its less the class and more the instant queue times that draw in the jerks.

@sQQuare Trust me I have the patience of a saint 99.9% of the time and yes I would sleep and use all skills available to me to assist in anyway. I am not an elitist in any way shape or form but I do have every class at 50 bar SMN/SCH with PLD and WAR being my mains so I am aware of how each class works and what everyone should be doing. This is why I believe he must have been trolling as I can't see how someone could be even in AV as a PLD and be so bad.

I think a lot of DDs need to realise that the little bar under your class icon in the party list is your enmity. If that gets full you will pull aggro. Even when a tank doesn't mark it's very easy to figure out which one you should be hitting by tabbing around and comparing the healers enmity level to the tanks, the one that the healers bar is lowest on is the one the tank has the most enmity on. Go on that. If your bar is about to hit full, ease off for a bit or switch onto something else - but don't go all out no matter what you target. Give the tank time and it makes every bodies lives easier.

Simple solution. Someone wants to be a critic, I feint a pull, let them tank, and drop group. I'd rather wait 15 minutes and enjoy my insta-queue with decent people who can accept that they themselves messed up, resulting in the problem.

Which nicely screws-over the other two in the party.

I actually had a horrible experience with a PLD tank yesterday in AV. He would run into a group of mobs and then spam nothing but fast blade on a single target until it died. Litterally just fast blade, no flash, provoke anything.

There are seriously people that think this game is single button spam. I wonder where they got that idea. I have seen all sorts of misinformation and misconception in DF runs. From ARC that don't understand how provoke works or healers that run away from me if they get hate. The worst has to be if I run as a DPS/Healer and I'm with a tank that just don't know how to play the job. it's really tough to watch a tank that never uses any buffs they have available. Never using convalesces is a very bad thing to do. Not only is the healer 20% less effective, they generate 20% more hate.

As much as people are blaming tanks, I love it when the tanks begin to blame the healers (myself included) when the tank gets hits half of his health on normal mobs, not even a boss/mini boss. We can only burst heal so much, and if regular monsters are manhandling them so bad, they need to re evaluate their gear/buffs/skills/panties/etc.

I've put down my axe for now, I got pretty peeved and disheartened after my 2nd CM run. My first time I had no idea what was going on since everyone else was pushing ahead while I was in my cutscenes. My 2nd run I got yelled at for not knowing where to pull mobs from for cannon fodder. I also got screamed at for main tanking the boss with the giant sword and not picking up the adds despite the other tank doing perfectly fine at it.
I got completely attacked when I politely asked for some TP from the bard every now and then, apparently spamming Overpower is bad TP management, and I know it is, but what else can I do when the BLM spams AoEs before I even get to my target?

The only reason I picked up WAR in the first place was to help my girlfriend through the story dungeons, and until she needs to do another I'm not tanking again, the abuse we get is simply horrendous at times. Please, if we ask for help just give us a hand, it makes a world of difference, we are people too.
