A community worse than WOW's?

So I just turned 50 and queued up for Castrum Meridianum to progress my story and see what happens. The entire time, people would rudely rush through things, like start a boss when a cutscene was happening. I was left out of a boss that way, and was berated the entire time. People told me I could just go to the Inn and watch them there, but I want to see the reason for everything I'm doing through those cutscenes.

I can understand wanting to quickly do the instance because one's done it X number of times, but if using the Duty Finder, one should realize that there are people in there who are doing it for the first time and will want to watch the cutscenes. If you're so hardcore and over it all, why not join a FC and run it with them?

Anyone else experience this?

I see it on occasion in my groups. I tell them all to chill out and let people watch the CS if they want to. Even if someone sat there and watched every single CS the combined extra time wouldn't amount to much. Not all groups are like that though, a fair share of the ones I've joined have been fine with letting people watch while the rest of us mow down the trash.

Yes I did experience it, as I am sure was the case for countless others. However, I wouldn't simply say it's the communities' fault per se. This wouldn't happen if SE hadn't decided to a) make CM a viable source for tomestones and b) make CM a possibly quick way of obtaining them.

My experience was healers and tanks leaving because of people watching cutscenes. DPS can't leave so they just get mad. It is kind of ridiculous because the cutscenes probably don't even amount to 15 minutes.

Yes, most of the time the people you get through DF are pretty bad, rude and obnoxious. Just report them.

I'm confident that they'll be the first ones to leave this game, though.

After my first CM run, which ended with me being locked out of two boss fights, I do agree. Luckily my second run went fairly smoother save for an AFK Tank but I think I'm just going to shout out and ask for a group instead of using Duty Finder for the Praetorium.

A Praetorium Speedrun takes between 20-25minutes. Depending on how good/well geared the people are. Adding 70% to that timewise is something that can be considered "a waste" obviously.

I personally don't bother with that, since I do all my Philo/Myth farming with FC members, so we are all on the same page.

And community wise...this is by no means worse than WoW...the difference is...LFR in WoW pretty much changes the fights to a faceroll fest. Even crap equipped and skilled people get that done, so wipes happen rarely and even if most people don't bother.
In ARR there are no "reduced" difficulty versions, so people want to maximize the chance of winning. Since you might end up with people you don't know at all if you gather them via shouts, people tend to "demand some sort of proof" that the person at least might be a good player. Cause they don't want to waste their time on wiping over and over again. Hell...when I DF Ifrit Hard on my PLD and we got a WAR in group most people are "instant WAR tanks, PLD stuns"...although I have better equipment in almost all cases. Most just don't realize that there are PLDs out there who can MT Ifrit AND Stun all of his Eruptions...so usually they don't give you the benefit of the doubt...but once I explain to them that I can do both most are ok with it and the WAR just deals damage.

The thing is communication...if you got flamed for whatever you did, there usually is a reason for it and if it's without any reason...who cares...let the stupid troll kid be and part your ways.


PS: Why is anyone even using the stupid DF...stay in Revenants Toll...join a Shout Group...problem solved. The DF is for people who can't bother to even type a sentence or send a /tell to somebody...

My thoughts exactly.
I'm pretty sure that the community will be much less toxic after the free time period ends and these kind of players will leave the game and look for the next new MMO to get their fix.

I've been ordered to skip cutscenes on numerous occasions. This always results in me immediately leaving the party.
