I have had only ONE instance that was terrible (I always either heal or Tank)

In this case I was healing..but the tank spoke hungarian or something and was wearing gear 20 levels lower.. he rushed into everything and we died, but it was HILARIOUSLY funny and we still had a fun time until the timer ran out

I got put into a party for AK w/ another new member with 6 minutes left on the clock...and am immediately like 'Crap, waste of time.' But people were like c'mon, may have a chance. So I sprinted to the final boss and had 4:30 on the clock. No time to discuss gameplan, so we buffed up, went in and won w/ 1 minute and some change still left on the clock. Everyone knew their role exactly and played it flawlessly. Easiest tomes I've earned to-date...and it was a lot of fun racing against the clock too.

I've been in some vile, horrific DF parties but one or 2 good parties have restored my faith in humanity.

My favorite ones are usually me on WHM healing the very low level dungeons. I tell them I have done it before and let them choose if I walk them through everything or if they want to just learn as we go.

I've had some good ones in WP also where I told them I had skipped it previously so was new and they explained things well and we were (mostly) successful.

The best parties take death and screw ups in stride and offer suggestions in a calm helpful tone. Also friendly chatting goes a long way.

My very best one was where one person recognized me from the podcast I'm on and we chatted on for a bit as we murdered tonberries.

Now, I know because I am going to say this that something will happen tonight, but I have yet to have any horror stories with Duty Finder. Not like the kind I've read about on the forums. Sure I've had some parties where people were not preforming optimally but no one lost their cool, sometimes someone would ditch but would get replaced right away, and I always stuck with it till the end.

Even if i'm yelling at the screen for the WHM to move out of the damn AOE, in game i keep my cool and offer suggestions and words of encouragement. In the end, it is just a game, not a life or death situation. I prefer to help foster an enviroment that is welcoming to everyone so that players will want to keep playing. I've played LoL and I never want FFXIV to turn into that...

So, no particular story but I would like to link a thread I made where I did talk about a DF experience that was probably my best experience yet!

So you think you are Hardcore/Elite.

I had the best DF group ever when doing Garuda.
I mean how often do you get asked to lineup for a screenshot?

    Kudos to these guys

(We wiped a few times but no flames, only tips and tactics)

Unfortunately positivity does not generate interest. People would rather comment on something that pisses them off instead of what makes them happy. We are the exception...

I mostly posted this as an excuse to bump this thread again, cause I like the positive stuff better than the negative.

My duty finder story is a Castrum run that had 2 full AF tanks that were probably friends/FC mates that said they were new and proceeded to be the best tanks ever, way better than anyone that shouted SPEED RUN at the start and knew the run top to bottom. We actually cleared faster than the average runs i had done since there were 0 wipes from leaving people behind/people confused at what to do/etc.

That's fine. People who want to piss and moan can do just that. They can be all

    and

    ...

    And we can be all

    and

    .

Did Garuda HM like the OP.

I was delegated side Tank, but accidentally pulled aggro on Garuda, so me and the Main Tank ended up switching spots. Needless to say it was more then a little hectic due to this, but we pulled through kept everyone up and won.

Best part is: Garuda Sword was dropped and I scored a 98 on a need roll. What really makes it great tho, is that before this HM fight started I decided it was my last for the night and regardless of win or loss I was going to bed.

That night I slept well dreaming of my nice new SHINY Garuda Sword.

My favorite instance in DF was when I tried tanking with Topaz Carby at Brayfox Longstop xD

One day I ended up in a party via Duty Finder without a tank for Brayfox Longstop. I just got Ifrift and wanted to use him, but after waiting for a bit we all wanted to try doing the dungeon before time runs out (and I reeeealllly wanted to progress the story lol). I got the idea to try using Topaz Carby as a tank.

I thought it would be as simple since I have tanked with Topaz before in an earlier dungeon with 3 other DDs.....but oh was I so wrong lol. This was my first run of Longstop so I didnt know the patterns or anything, I couldnt get Carby to keep aggro on all the mobs...and the monsters hit like a freaking truck so when I did he would die instantly and then our WHM or me next. We wiped so many times over and over again and couldnt even get past the 1st bird boss. At some point we got a tank but we still kept wiping. Time ran out but everyone was in high spirits about it.

While It wasn't a success that was probably my 2nd favorite dungeon run yet lol
