Enough negativity -- share your Duty Finder GLORY stories!

I've had some great experiences in DF, both because of tanks. The first was in Haukke manor. Tank had done it before, and was patient, guided us through the whole thing, no complaint. Was a super chill and rewarding experience.

Second, I was re-running Copperbell with a couple FC people and a duty finder Tank. Get to the 'boss' room where there are hordes of Mobs and I disconnect. Client dies. I try desperately to log back in, spamming start till I manage to get past 3102 mini-boss. And everyone was like "glad to have you back". I did not expect such a relaxed reaction! Anyway, we get past the bomb goo boss thing , and our lancer dps, from my FC disconnects. Made it to the final boss. Me and the archer from my FC dpsed adds till they spawned too quickly, the rest of the fight we kited. We managed to kill him on our first try. It was the most gratifying boss fight I've had so far.

Some people in this community are freaking awesome, and deserve serious Kudos.

I never actually had any issue or bad experience with DF to be fair.

Sure there was some cases where people ran on into fights while I or other were looking at cut-scenes, or tried to make speed runs when everyone else was not interested, or went into fits of rage at how some player had learning pains, or had gear that wasn't top for the fight, or kept asking the tank "are you a tank??????"


But usually, after those people died a couple of times, they either tried to work to make the team win or just left.

In which case me and who was left would just start talking about tricks for the dungeon or just chatting for a while until a replacement joined our team and made us win the Dungeon, or we just left the instance, went back to our quests and hunting logs and waited for the next random instance party to load me up.

So basically, the only people who were truly having a bad time where those who couldn't understand that you don't really have a choice but to do your best to make a randomly grouped party work together and live with the deaths and down times that it might bring.

If I want to make sure I party in a certain way for a speed run or with qualified class players, I DO NOT use DF...

I would love to see SE offer a more intelligent way to make and find parties on the server then simply the god awful player search, but right now that just not the case.

The first time I fought Garuda I was with an experienced WHM but otherwise a party new to the fight... and it went really badly. We wiped numerous times, but every time getting a bit further before we failed. Finally we decided she was going down this time, and everything went smoothly and she did. No angst, just everyone learning the fight until we succeeded. Very much like the OP's story.

I was also really appreciative of my Praetorium group being patient with those of us watching the long cutscenes and getting us all through it with no major problems (a few deaths, but no wipes).

A CM run I did yesterday started somewhat badly with a semi-wipe on the trash, accusations of bad healing and bad tanking, and then pulling the first boss before the off-tank was ready. But we all pulled together and the group was running really smoothly by the end, which everyone commented on. That was nice.

I had a few utterly amazing AK DF runs before they nerfed it - the type that goes so fast and clean that you usually only expect it from a static. DFing AK is so hit and miss, though. Sometimes you get a great group, other times just terrible.

Nerfed? Oh! You mean when they removed the exploit you were using, got it!

I love the groups that don't give up after a few wipes. That was my SM Titan run. I believe only tank ran it before. But he was very patient with us getting pushed over the edge a lot and wiping lol. In the end (after about 6 wipes) we made it and it felt so rewarding.

Hmmm had quite some fun with DF... tank got DCed infront of final boss room in haukke. We were left with lancer, healer and archer. So we discussed decided to give it a shot. Beat her on the first go.

Had something similar happen in tam tara. We get to the final boss... lose the tank. We wait around, discussing if we should try with carby tanking. In comes a new tank... runs to us... then get's DCed so we try with carby tanking... fail. Just as we're discussing some ideas in pops another tank and we're a go.

Then had a run brayflox. In one case we're running through - the tank never once marked so mid run he goes... guess I should start marking. We were rather random in everything. Teamwork was near to no existant. Beat the boss in the end with no issues.

And cutters cry had some fun as well... healer kept running and opening chests during battles, lancer kept running and pulling everything before the tank could. But still we managed to get through with no real issues.

The vast majority of my duty finder groups have actually been great, even if there are wipes or a boss takes multiple attempts. Only a couple players have been sour in my groups, and oddly it was mostly in the lower level (<25) content, and could have been cleared up by communicating properly instead of raging. People tend to focus the negative, it has a bigger impact on them rather than the positive, which is why complaints show up on the forum. That said, I'm all for a wall of shame, but I haven't yet encountered anyone I would need to put on it.

Shout out to all the patient people in duty finder, the ones willing to teach, learn, or wipe a few times to achieve a goal. You're the glue holding the random player community together. I wish I could add some of you cross server people to my friend list ♥

One of the most crazy yet positive runs was my first Stone Vigil run. I went in as SCH, stated it was my first run, but the rest of the party somehow overlooked it. The tank has set such a crazy pace I had no time to even type in chat. Had to learn everything on the go and somehow made it to the last boss without wipes.

Where the party nearly managed to seal me outside the boss room cause they engaged the boss with me still in the cutscene XD
In the end the two DDs died, I had my hands full with managing my, the tank's and my fairy's hp and positioning and my quickcast+raise macro didn't work, and there was no time to use a normal one. My fairy (<3) was main healing and me and the tank killed the boss. It wasn't a perfect run, but it sure as hell was fun.

Can't say what my best is, everyone is just completed silent all the time. I guess it's because we not wipe and doing fine and no shit have hit the fan yet.

I had a great experience with DF Garuda. It was 3 people's first wins and one of those 3 it was his first try on the fight. We won on the first attempt. Everyone was really happy. ^_^

And I got a proposal. :O
