Why aren't these hacked accounts getting instantly locked when logging in from a new ip? It worked like this in 1.0, I don't see why it would have been changed.

Yes, based on some mistakes they send they're seemingly trying to inject something into the game, so responding is also a good chance something is being passed around, much like in FFXI typing a certain type of "." would disconnect everyone within a radius around you for a short while.
Works like this in ARR as well.
It might not be from an RMT website, fishy emails, or even from downloading something funky.
If you have gone on any website recently, (maybe to find information about a quest or something else game-related?) then it's possible that that website has been compromised. It happened awhile back to some FFXI sites like FFXI Allakhazam and people were getting hacked. So be very careful about any site that you visit. :/
hijacking =/= hacking.
see when i got hacked I never got the IP address password and no email to change and my email and game passwords are different anyways.
Well after 2 hours of waiting on the hold on the phone I got nowhere, but after an hour and a half of waiting in queue for the Live Chat, twice, I was able to finally talk to someone. Unfortunately, said person was NOT able to help me directly at all. They "escalated the issue", and that's all they could help me with. So I just have to wait for an email from SE...sometime.
So looks like I'll go an entire week without any FFXIV.![]()
Why some players are so dummy to understand this is not what you did right so you didn't get hacked. This is because you are lucky. Hacker may already know your password but they wait until the Gil got sell then they login your account and sell your Gil's. you will be the one in trouble next. you can laugh now and help SE defence their poor service at moment.
^ Bad Karma. Besides I don't see anyone laughing, mostly questioning.Why some players are so dummy to understand this is not what you did right so you didn't get hacked. I've been trying to respond this whole day, but apparently I've reached my maximum amount of posts?
^^This was a test to see if I could actually respond yet..phew.^^
And Tupsi, in my particular case, WHO hacked me and HOW they hacked me is entirely irrelevant. Even if the hacker had my information for awhile, they were not able to get in successfully until my token was disabled. I called SE to have them assist in disabling it so I could quickly link it to the mobile app for the mobile token (I was attempting to do it manually, but kept coming back with an error, which is why I called to begin with). They failed hard by not disabling it, but instead freezing it. When that was done, it stopped requiring the 6 digit code to log in, but it was required to change my password or manually remove the token from my account because, but it was frozen and wouldn't accept it. Multiple people have posted having this issue as well in the past. The whole point of this post is that SE dropped the ball for me, regardless if the hacker had my info prior or not, and the level of customer service taken to "resolve" it.
If this helps, the only sites I have visited regarding FFXIV are: Zam, the wiki, xivdb (always have been suspicious of this one personally...but everyone seems to think it's legit).
