[QUOTE=Doki;1242161 Targeting on PS3, even with filters set up just right, is still a fetid pile of garbage.[/QUOTE]

I'm on PC, but I use the PS3 controller for it. I had a massive issue with targeting in FATEs and Dungeons, as a tank that was actually something I was quite worried about. The other day, however, I stumbled across an easier method to target using the gamepad, if you hold down the R2 button, and then tap R1 (or L2 > L1 if you prefer) the cursor will bounce between mobs laid out in front of you Not sure if this will help everyone/anyone, but it's made my life a hell of a lot simpler lol.

Personally I'd prefer having PS3 users having their own server.

    Just saying.

You are indeed a huge part of the problem, congrats.

People who hate on PS3 players have their own issues, honestly. I've been running on ps3 since day 1 of early access without a single problem (that isnt related to server, ie 3102 or mass fate congestion) The graphics are different for sure, but I really dont care because I dont have a current system to sustain XIV enough to compare. The only thing that does suck in my situation is that in order to use Mumble with my FC i have to keep the laptop booted up and ensure that it doesnt die from lack of sustained power if it goes on for too long. In the near future I intend to remedy that with my desktop and run mumble off that permanently. It would be nice if there was a voice chat option that could be ran directly through the ps3 for XIV, but even then, I don't think it would be compatible with my FC's mumble server anyway, so meh, it's whatever.

But back to main point. I can and have ran side by side on PC users just fine.

Edit: Decided to amend the last comment I made, but I'll say this. I'm really looking forward to WvWvW style PvP in the future. Normally, PvP never interested me, but for some odd reason, it's rather appealing now.

I'll try that, also do you know how to remove targeting minion/npc in combat? I played with both settings for target filters and still keep targeting minions.

All of the people in this thread saying how PS3 players never talk are just pulling it out of their ass. They have no idea if the silent DPS in their party is a PS3 user or a EU player who doesn't speak English or a PC user who is just being lazy. They're just assuming it's a PS3 player so they have someone to focus their pubescent rage on.
These losers are so mad. The DPS is there to do his job, kill. He doesn't have to talk to you at all. Not everyones up for a chat. No one has to talk to you. The people that rage over this are honestly those lonely basement dweller folks with nothing better to do.

Oh dear, no I haven't tried to do that at all. I've heard a lot of people get rather pissed off about minions n pets though, in FATEs, or anywhere for that matter xD. I love watchin those lil guys run around, but they do make targeting tricky sometimes. All I know is, when I did stumble on the L2/L1 thing, I went to an area that had mobs, and plenty of carbuncles. I, *not once*, targeted a Carbuncle, it just scrolled through MOBS and I will forever use that as my quick target method now lol. In dungeons I can now easily cycle between mobs when there's 2-3, or more, to make sure that nifty lil A is still beside my name. If it's not, THWACK, and then cycle back to the original target Glad that went on to help at least 1 person

Same happened to me. All the did was cry about ps3 players the whole run. After the dungeon the thanked me & said I was a major help then I told them I was on ps3. Not a word more was said.

My boyfriend plays on PC, but uses a controller. Although he loves using a controller, he has mentioned that there are a few issues with using one. For example, when a new window pops up (Loot window), your controller will automatically select it. If you press whatever button you have mapped to 'confirm' twice in rapid succession (possibly because you are trying to spam abilities), you could accidentally roll on something you didn't mean to. Sometimes, the controller glitches and just won't respond correctly. Targeting can be difficult too, especially if you are trying to target something huge and close to you (example: Demon Wall as a tank -- something he gets annoyed about every time we run that dungeon). I'm not saying this is a reason to keep PS3 players out, but it is one reason why some people are shying away from using controllers -- until the controls are improved (or you are able to 'take back' a roll without having to leave a dungeon to do it!)

Another (more likely) reason people won't want to play with PS3 players has nothing to do with being snobby or thinking they are 'better' (as a player from 1.0, I will be the first to admit that ARR is a VERY different game... Legacy players have no right to be snobs about our previous experience). It is simply logistics. For example, many endgame linkshells will utilize voice communication. Now, more than ever, it's difficult to type while trying to avoid AoEs that go off just a few short seconds after the little 'warning' marks on the ground appear. Players who use the PS3 will need to use a computer or smartphone app to access these programs, and it can be difficult for them. We have several PS3 players in our LS who are encountering this problem. They don't want to feel left out, but they don't readily have access to voice chat programs. As raids become harder, being able to at least listen will become more important. Of course, once everyone gets the mechanics down... communication won't be needed that much, and everyone will just 'know' what to do.

I don't see the issue, I admit targeting can be a slight pain on PS3 thus why I prefer PC, but my brother plays right along side me (PS3) and does just as well. I guess it stems from some people playing with new players who still don't have it all down yet and think all players are horrible. When I think on it though, is there even a way for them to check if a person is PC or PS3?
