I don't believe I said anything about AF

I'm talking about cases where people clearly didn't keep up with their gear on the way to 50, but then try to jump straight into end-game content because there's no indication of difficulty and nothing to prevent them from joining something they aren't prepared for which only hurts the people they get grouped with. Unless you ask around or go look it up there's nothing to tell you what order you should be doing the dungeons in.

As long as the restrictions are reasonable and you can still enter a dungeon manually without issue I think a gear check is a good thing for a medium that lumps you together with strangers.

So.... what is to stop people from snagging high item level equipment that isn't even appropriate for their jobs with GC seals and wearing that in order to queue up for a dungeon? That's the problem with item level requirements... it gets people to prioritize item level over stats that are actually useful to their job.

Or am I the only one that can see a bunch of DPS'ers and tanks running around in full GC gear sets trying to do primal hard modes?

I like the item level requirement but it does seem strange when you can penta meld level 49 jewellery and they become better than anything else available.

    Kind of selfish mindset, eh?

They could add number of slotted materia to the calculation also if they wanted to.

    THIS.

Melded materia should add *some* value to the Item Level.... Could also open up scenarios where converting gear with several materia melded to it might yield a Materia of a higher grade than the bare equipment...

Maybe? I think people are entitled to a sustainable existence, but I don't think they're entitled to luxury. FF11 had a terrible economy with probably something like 90% of the gil being held by 2% of the population, but it didn't stop me from having fun. Large repair bills do - call it a psychological thing.

If I were more selfish, I wouldn't bother with translation at all, y'know. I'm lazy enough as it is.

I apologize for the way I said that (the forums here are so negative, it kind of takes its toll). I appreciate you translating the info!

To clarify: I'm not saying that you are wrong for wanting to be sustainable (I do too), I just don't see why you could care less about the economy of the game. I don't want to see the economy go the way FFXI went. You ARE entitled to your own opinion though.

Item level does not change a player's mindset or skill... Gear isn't exactly hard to get.
