In game community is....spotty at best.

I have to say 90% of people I have spoken to are nice an polite, but there are very few who actively help others. It seems most are so caught up in rushing to 50 ignoring most of the game they see others who are not doing it as some sort lesser player lol.

Most will not even stop to help/heal/res/support etc etc anyone they see. Now this isn't wholesale, but it is defiantly the majority who do it. Not to mention the tank I pt with last night in Manor, who was trying to tel us all how to play our classes.

Or the idiot who reported me for griefing because I was chaining 3 mobs at once, an he wasn't able to do it. (Apparently because I have Iffrit and my chocko, he says it isn't fair an I should be banned for it)... lol

What happened to MMO communities that they have sunk to such low levels of sadness
Then you have the crafting community, it was a complete flashback to the FFXI days where people bent over backwards to help each other.I was gob smacked at how different it is.

I understand it can be irritating. One thing to remember is that MMO's are much bigger than they used to be. There is a far greater chance in running into bad apples now.

As for the raise issue, maybe they are like me and do not have raise yet? I haven't leveled a class that gets a rez, so I cannot rez anyone that asks. Not everyone is out to thwart you.

For what it's worth, I've walked over a few dead folks without noticing them before (though it's often because I'm too busy waving at the chocobo that's just mysteriously standing there by itself... you'd think that would tip me off). I'm pretty embarrassed when the dead guy I'm standing on speaks up and asks for a raise.

In any case, my point is that, as far as raising people goes, sometimes it's just a matter of not noticing, and not a matter of ignoring. Or, like Taj said, the player may not have raise yet.

The crafting community is likely populated by the more casual players, or the players who are more willing to do things other than dungeon grinds, so you'll probably run into a number of more relaxed folks there. End-game dungeon grinding tends to stress people out. :P

eheh that isnt what I meant, I can raise in an out of combat an generally will if asked. But most healer types I see will go out of their way to run past you because that 20 seconds is valuable xp lost to them .... it's idiotic to say least. I dont give a damn if people dont res me it was just a for instance. There is no DP in this game so getting ressed doesn't really mean a thing. MMO's themselves are far far smaller than they used to be physically. The player bases are bigger that is true, but its the age of the player that has dropped, thus bringing in the tools an rudeness.

    edit
Tari-F, that is true, it is easy sometimes to miss people. I think from memory last night was only time I have ever actively been snobbed by a whm type. I was doing my 20 storyline an had died, so was layin there an another whm rode up an started grinding right there. When he didn't bother to res me, I asked for one an he said I dont raise an just went on grinding. So when I got back I noticed he had died an I was "very" tempted to just leave him. But I ressed him up healed him an reminded him that acting like a 3 year old will not make you many friends. then left with him yelling hate an spewing venom lol

Ah. I can't say I've experienced that yet, but I can see it happening. Somewhat unfortunate, but I do think that it will improve a bit when more casuals start reaching higher levels on their DoW/DoM classes.

Well, I hope it improves, anyway.

    Wait til subs kick in.
Its funny, I didn't meet any rude players until I started doing the last couple instances in the story and hard mode primals. Truly some angry, sad people out there.

The raise issue can be attributed to the bystander effect. The game world is so small and crowded that people will generally assume someone else will step up and do the job.

I think it's a side effect of how much I fished in FFXI, honestly. I just sorta wandered around Eorzea fishing everywhere and eventually hit 50. It was pretty fun exploring new and dangerous areas without a weapon, haha.

At around level 40, I found this little fishing hole in Coerthas that I thought was neat, so I stayed there for a while... and then someone told me I was fishing under Behemoth's spawn point. :|

hehe yer, I should get back into it. But its annoying that fishing is useless because in XI it was actually good to do.
