Im only 47 smn but i usually win in parsers vs other dps but since they are randoms it doesnt count. Anways i see that smn can do good dmg if you focus

I have not ran with ANY smn's at all, they seem non existent on my server. But from what I've seen top DPS is a monk, in a real fight where there is movement, it's BRD.
If you talking about end game DPS. Monk is close to worst. Too many movement during the fight. Monk can't keep their buff up. Ranged DPS job is aways good and they are easy to survive too.
It depends heavily on the fight the team set up and the skill level.
In a real world, their is more then enough assigned duties that top-dps is a bad then good. There is just so much you should be doing besides dps, it's not funny. A wipe usually happens because someone is too focus on doing damage then helping the team win.
Skill and tactics matter a lot more then dps, though there are times when certain classes are heaps and heaps disadvantaged/advantaged
Mnks are heavily disadvantaged when they can't figure out position, and bouncing around. But are very good when they have to fend for themselves or intercept adds etc. They require very little support from other team mates
Brds are good at rapid target switching and range. They are also good at burst, and their songs scale well. They can damage on the move. The lack in utilities that CC, and require a lot of support if they are ever threatened. So nice to have, but at the same time bad to have.
Blms aoe's are amazing, their CC are also amazing, their healing are amazing (for what it's worth), but they are completely locked down without frontal support. They need massive support to work their magic.
SMN are very good support, very mobile, and can really add up. They can't burst for crap and their move set is buggy as heck.
DRG are all rounder. They do everything a dps should do. No up or down. The rock of the dps. Though they eat up TP like nothing.
Theoretically I would say Drg is top-dps if you round out the game since you really can't go wrong sticking a drg in, but most people only look to end game, and even then, not even. as coil is hush hush, and everyone is picking on primal hard mode as the "look what I can do".

As a Dragoon I haven't come across a fight yet where I found myself completely TP starved before it was over. (Not even Garuda HM) And I'm pulling 180-200 DPS with the black mages.
Must say I'm extremely pleased with the state of the Dragoon job right now, they did very well designing the class, especially compared to XI.
Oh man DRG werenf relevant until aht uhrgan was released and even thrn they were only good once they got high enough to fight colibri >.>As a Dragoon I haven't come across a fight yet where I found myself completely TP starved before it was over. Thanks for the responses guys, it sounds like they are pretty balanced good stuff.
So far for me it's been monk, but since bard and black mage are so close in terms of dps, are ranged which is very important and got better AoE, I tend to favor them.
Can't say about dragoons, so far I've played with only bad dragoons with white weapons and artifact gear still thinking jump can avoid aoe. Heck I've seen 2 pass on upgrades because artifact looks better XD
lots of opinions here stated as facts.
