I still don't get how people defend XI for not using copy and paste they even released an expansion that used old zones in them with slight tweaks... Now XI had many zones that were different but the zone it self was copy and pasted a lot. Lets not all forget the copy paste of sea also the spot where Timat spawns all the starter zones near cities are copy and pasted gutsa etc also the beloved Zitah zone is most copy and pasted one to me repeats that same wood bridge over the hole like 100 times. In the end alot of game do this they just hid them with landmarks which they should do

I'd love it if The Black Shroud was similar to Zitah in XI(Also one of the zones with the best music.)

There's nothing wrong with gridania, anyway. Not when compared to limsa's miles long walkways.

I think this is interesting. I think the Black Shroud has the most unique areas. There are the white trees, the glowing tree, trees with birdhouses, cliffs, ponds, lakes, streams, bridges, etc. The problem is that it's so hard to get around in the Black Shroud that no one explores enough to find those areas.

I'd like to see the maze-like qualities cleared, and the Black Shroud become more open. I just always assumed it was intentional, to recreate the feeling of getting turned around and lost in a forest. I'm just not sure that benefit is enough to justify the inconvenience.

I like the glowing trees and such too, but the maze-like qualities IS the problem with the shroud. that is the sole thing about it that needs to be changed. The silphs home can remain untouched, but the greater majority needs to not look all the same when it comes to looking at the map.

Yeah the recent add-ons suck and reuse old zones, that doesn't mean those old zones are bad. World design is one of the things people praise FFXI for, and one of the things everyone hates about FFXIV. "Oh no they use the same tree three times on this map!", better than using the same curving ramp between two hills feature 30 times in one area. XIV copy/pastes entire land structures over and over.

Half the posts in this thread have crapped on the OP for not using the term "Black Shroud" as opposed to "Gridania" when it's fairly evident from a broad sentiment (I said broad not unanimous without dissent) that it's the Black Shroud that is the problem. Many people often refer to the entire area, city or surroundings, with the term "Gridania".

And now you're crapping on the OP because you're interpreting his comment as literally implying that it's broken from a technical perspective as opposed to just a poorly designed zone that feels "cheap" as someone mentioned earlier and is disliked, from a design perspective, by a great many people.

He/she has a point (even if it wasn't made eloquently and in a "trollish" fashion according to some). Crapping on them by using literal interpretations of what the OP posted is even more stupid than the post itself (assuming you thought it was stupid).

You seem to assume everyone is Native English and therefore should know that there's a difference between using a word you don't mean to use and using the incorrect word, to me, since English is my second language, "broken" means not functioning.

When the OP says "Fix it!" That means something is "broken", therefore not working. So I don't see anyone "crapping" on the OP.
