Duty finder is never going to be the answer for people looking to play with mature players or people not ditching halfway.

The entire concept of it breed toxicity like people have been encountering, 0 accountabillity and a massive likelyhood that you will never see a single person you play with again makes being a moron very easy and have no blowback. Play with people on your server if you want a real experience, get a free company with lots of people or hell start your own and start inviting new/old players alike breed a community.

Don't expect the duty finder to do it for you, we had to work hard in FFXI to make our community what it was. The game had hardships and with them the community grew to overcome them, in a game with a lack of real challenge until the endgame weaning people on a system that fosters not needing to really communicate and then suddenly saying.

    "OK IT GETS REAL HERE!"

Is no way to design your game...but eh.

Duty Finder is a great concept but strays from the self-policing nature of FFXIV 1.0 and FFXI.

People didn't get away with this crap because they were named and shamed and sometimes banned from LS's to the point they had to transfer to another server!! Add to this the nature of FFXIV 2.0 appealing to a more diverse audience from less, shall we say, cultured MMOs -- it is a breeding ground for this kind of behavior.

I also liked it more when servers will completely multi-cultural. I feel that co-existing with other nations (literally) brought some civility to the game that other MMO's don't benefit from.

Yeah, I know there were also negatives and JP Only blah blah, but there were many more positives - people generally worked together.
My only hope is that when people have to actually start paying, its gonna turn around a little.

This isn't a Legacy or FF14 community thing, this is the general MMO population that's been created in the past decade. They literally completely ruin the game by being such a horrible community, all about rushing, getting stuff done asap, needing to get gear asap so you can beat the game faster, exploit and skip everything.

Neverwinter was unplayable because not a single person wanted to do anything but skip stuff, I suggest you make a community on your server and never use duty finder and avoid these elitist/tryhards.

I still have high hopes that by NOT constantly being afraid of the state of the community I'm not fostering the problem.

I really do honestly believe that you get the company you are expecting. I am friendly in dungeon finder runs. people are friendly to me. I've had one bad experience in open beta, and that's about it. (and I don't even really count that because the two idiot dps also knew each other and I'm not epecting them to ever see them again)

if you see rude/bad behaviour make it clear that you are not up to it. if someone leaves a dungeon because they want to do a speed run.. let them! granted it sucks if they are the healer or tank and you have to wait for a replacement, but at the end of the day a 'bad run' is way more frustrating than waiting for replacement.

don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution

I'd say blame Square for making you have to grind dungeons to get tombstones. It's tedious enough as it is.

The entire reason people are speedrunning this dungeon is for allagan tombstones of mythology.

The same could be said to you, you want speed runs, are a pro and want efficiency? Get a group from your server that is like minded and stay out of the duty finder, pros should have their own channels, LS and FC for this anyways.

Point is there should be a way for both groups to play together or at least flag what kind of run they are looking for.

This, even though I started the game with a lvl 50 I've been taking my sweet time. Only just cleared Titan normal mode today. Most of my dungeon runs have been with my Free company. Only used the Duty Finder a mere handful of times. Been having a blast that way. Haven't even been to the dungeon OP is talking about but I imagine I'd just run it with friends/Free Company and avoid the drama when I unlock it.

This is a typical scenario where "don't hate the player, hate the game" is appropriate.
This is an issue SE need to fix by making massive changes. People are lazy and skipping mobs is easy. You can't blame the players for that, it's human nature to go the path of least resistance.
I'm not there yet, but if people want to skip when I get there, that's fine with me. As long as it's not changed to become unskippable or offers incentives for not skipping, that's what's going to happen.

People really need to stop blaming SE for the PW incident.

The culprit of that incident was good old-fashioned human stupidity, on the players' part.

The only people who made those people go for 18 hours was themselves. SE didn't force them to do that. They chose to. They could have called it at any time. They chose to keep going. Every single person in that group is responsible for what happened to them.

The changes SE made to that fight were not to "fix a broken fight". They were made to prevent people - who had clearly demonstrated an inability to do so on their own - from making stupid, self-destructive decisions.

The whole "blaming SE for it" ordeal was just gamers doing what gamers typically do: Make stupid, counter-intuitive decisions, often undermining their own enjoyment in the process.... and then blaming someone else for it while refusing to accept any responsibility for it themselves.

That people would actually find it more likely that SE would deliberately design a fight to take 18 hours, than to stop and think that "gee, maybe they were either doing something very wrong, or the fight was bugged...", is just one of many examples of how people - gamers in particular - demonstrate their stupidity.

The people were not beating the fight because they were not using the right methods/tactics. If you're using a plastic straw to hammer an iron nail into a 2x4... it ain't going anywhere, no matter how long you keep at it. You don't then blame the nail manufacturer for creating a poor product.

Even if the fight somehow did take that long (or longer) to defeat... The players have only their own idiocy to thank for keeping at it to the point that they're becoming physically ill.

When you make a poor decision, the responsibility is on you for making it. Blaming someone/something else does not change that.

One easy way to fix this problem is to give people incentives for people to not do a speed run. Lets compare the two options, full clear AK which takes about 40 minutes mind you and gives you nothing but repair bills OR speed run it which takes about 15 mins and actually profit from it. If trash actually gives decent gil and some sort of random trash drop I wouldn't mind clearing it, but as long as trash only drops 1 gil or mats I will always choose speed run.
