    It's funny that you mention this. I started in Limsa and your totally right. I have not seen a spell like that at all. Yet. But,

    I'm thinking it could very well be the Rank 68 spell; Protect III.

    Snurbles cast this, and it's just Protect with a stronger defense boost. It doesn't look like the hemisphere. Not even Protect IV does it.
