I hate to be a Debbie Downer but you most likely got in so quickly due to the lack of people being online early in the morning (early in the morning being a relative phrase). Even during the busiest of times I was able to log in during these times.

Also, I think even though we weren't told we would receive server transfers that there is a certain expectation to be met for the quality of life for the players of this game. People don't want to have to reroll their characters in order to play their friends and even if they do character creation has already been restricted on many servers: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...ba2723f43ef6c7
