AF 1 now is basically starting endgame gears.
You begin with AF1 then work your way into Darklight.
After you get DarkLight you move onto AF2 gear for Job Role stats or Allagan gear for Utility stats.
AF2 and Allagan are currently the most powerful sets in the game after all with stats equal to each other except for their bonus stats being built differently.
AF2 for Job roles
Allagan for Utility.
I for one am overjoyed that basic, essentially cosmetic, gear is given to folks when they get high enough level. It's armor that lets people at least begin to participate in end game. It looks relatively pretty. The folks who want to work at getting better gear can, and the folks who want to look reasonably hawt can run around in their fancy armor.
Really it sounds like a win-win for both hardcore gamers (who still have armor to aspire to) and fashionist/as (who have something epic enough to sport in town).
Everyone will have AF gears anyway sooner or later.
Worked hard? My wife and I played 1.0 for less than 2 months during 2012 and had 2 full sets each. It wasn't difficult to get then. It's even easier now.
Besides, the armor isn't very good anyways. If anything, it gives you a base to upgrade from moving into the endgame.
This game is all around easy mode - it takes easy mode to all new levels.
I'm really interested to see what people think of this game they're all gushing about in 2-3 months - if they last that long. What will there be to do when the entire game is handed to you?
Why wouldn't they give you loot like this? They give you xp via fate zergs that's only one small step shy of just getting piles of xp every few minutes on a timer. Whoa, you have to hit a few mobs to get full credit for participating in the zero challenge, zero threat, zero effort massacres. Let us not strain ourselves, eh?
At least now I know how all the new 50's on my server are all running around in full blues with ease.
We can all agree this game is a bit more casual and more fun in a way.
But I do feel kind of bad that everything which was harder to do/get is now easy.
Remember the annoying pain it was to get the your chocobo?
Remember how annoying the class advance quests were?
Albeit there is more worth in something that's harder to get... but I think we just need harder end-game dungeons and the sort. Not the "if you get this better armor set you can do the next dungeon easily to get that armor set, then move onto the next one fairly easily"
In all honesty I want end game gear/dungeons to be hard as balls that way less people have it as quickly and it's more of a feat.
im pretty sure there is several reasons for this:
1 to close the gap between new players and legacy players gear.
2 so you have the iconic class gear when you do your final class quest.
3 so everybody isn't running the 50 dungeons in terrible gear.

It wasnt really that hard... the hard part what finding a pt to go with you like the mnk af or the drg af. Just about everyone would jump to help you get your Blm af because they didnt want to do that job on the primal HM.
