I totally agree with this, looking toward a game which is ten years old will only harm FFXIV in the long term. FFXI had some good ideas but their implementation wasn't the best. Skillchains/magic bursts are simply rewards for cooperating. FFXIV can apply the concept without employing the exact feature.

If this game wants to move forward, it needs to filter suggestions which are stuck in the past.

Thank you, this post actually makes sense. People need to realize that the game can't live off the FFXI-migrants if its going to be succesful.

Just take a good look at FINAL FANTASY 14... one look makes you think immediately of 11... why? Because it's the same damn cover but with better graphics... YES they should have kept a lot of things that made 11 great but also added things that made AION WOW and soon to be TERA great while adding animations and elements used in their previous FINAL FANTASY games.

What really would have done the trick is if they turned all the weapon skill animations into animations just as fluid and bad ass as the FINAL FANTASY 8 or 10 animations.
You really have missed my point completely. EVERY MMO has something that makes it unqiue, FFXI had those things. I am talking about those, not things a crap load of MMO's have, and things i expect them to have. This FF should have the basic things the other final fantasys had, chocobos, classic FF names, NM's(essentially NM are just bosses or minibosses). It is what makes a FF game FF. I am asking for the points made that are NOT those. We do need things from FFXI, generic MMO setting that FFXI was really good at, but we do not need the exact same specifications, as in specific extra's of game content/gameplay that defined FFXI. We need something that defines FFXIV. Well if you do not get this I do not care, not going to make it any easier to understand than this. Last reply post I will be doing on this thread.

It is not the quantity of friends you have that determines your worth, its the quality of friends that does.

I completely disagree with you once again spuffin... From the Interviews/letters I don't get that they are grabbing so much from XI and bringing it to XIV... In fact even with your job naming statement Yoshi-P isn't changing our current class names but instead making in where we unlock ADVANCED classes that MIGHT be named traditionally(so we can be a more defined role and not all of us seeming the same just different weapons). The other way is kinda like a skill tree where choose our specialization(with not exactly having a "Skill Tree"). Sounds like to me They are solving the issue they they how while still creating a unique experience. Unlike the old team that just put on blind folds and sat at a computer.

Wow these are great ideas! I like all of them. I would really love to have a 'guild' house and possibly have different types of personal mounts.

what is wrong with Battle Regimen? I never failed a BR after they made it more simple. What the hell is wrong then? Is so freaking easier to do BR now then last time. All you need to do is team coordination!

Yeah because these aggro indicators, exlcamation marks above NPC's heads, and lack of mob behaviour, and deletion of character collision, all of which are features added or removed by the new development team are such improvements to the game.

I agree we need more gaming content but as far as leves go i think they should stay. those are in a sense are the meat and potatoes we all have for when grinding and party play gets a little rough. on the topic of this isn't ff11, i agree with you. alot of us are 11 veterans and for those of us that have spent YEARS!!!!!! into a game that worked its frustrating to sit and go this is FINAL FANTASY.......i spent xxxxx amount of dollars upgrading and in some cases buying a whole new computer just to play something....that doesn't....work. <insert hitler fit> so ofcourse the veterans want what they had here. but like you said this isn't 11. it's 14 and with that we should move forward carrying a small piece of what we left behind with us. that small piece of 11 being the chocobos, the housing and a few oldie but goodie mobs.

They can the same way they make a new Final Fantasy console game every couple of years.

Final Fantasy XII was a completely different game then Final Fantasy 10 and it worked fantastically imo. It's a shame they couldn't do something similar with XIV after XI.

SE is a unique company that is going to make unique features for it's unique games, both good and bad. And so that's where we are with XIV.

It's my personal belief that trying to emulate XI is a bad thing. All things need to evolve into something new and mother nature does it everyday. Sometimes those creations thrive and sometimes they die. That's just the way it is. SE will continue to learn and evolve just like everything else does.
