As a healer, my que times have been 5-15 seconds or so. That is until lvl 28. Since then, the que times have gone up considerably. My opinion is that the crowd has shifted to fate farming. Sure you can still run dungeons, but there are a whole lot of people fate farming for fast exp.

This has another bad side effect as well. More than like people you will come across later on and they will have a hard time running dungeons as many of them won't know to run dungeons.

    For fast queues:

    - Lower level dungeons: healer or tank
    - Mid to high level dungeons: tank (queuing up as healer for 40+ instance runs have been ~20-30 min wait in my experience)

You have a long queue b/c there a bazillion DDs out there.

I think the problem is the dungeons are giving a lot of people a hard time. So once they clear it once they never go back. There is no lack of tanks or healers. They would rather grind fates and wear npc gear than wipe over and over in dungeons. It only gets worst when you get past the mannor. Think you have it bad now wait till brayflox. Im a whm and I have long ques.

I can confirm as a tank that the duty finder takes about 30 seconds. If im not available for a dungeon my DPS friends have to wait 45min-1hr to get in

Problems are likely two-fold: 1) there's not really much incentive (in terms of EXP or gear) to replay a dungeon and 2) FATE parties kind of make all non-endgame dungeons obsolete (except for the initial story clear).

There are a few problems. Today I ran Brayflox 3 times on my Paladin. The first 2 because there were 4 dps in my FC that just got to that instance and they wanted to do it. I asked my healer friend who got me to play this game to come and heal the first run. After the first run (by the way even though we did Brayflox mutliple times together [the healer and I]) we still haven't even geared from it yet. All that drops is dps gear. So that there is already pretty demoralizing for us.

So the third time I ran it, a healer logged on who also needed it, so my friend went back to doing her thing and I went back in (again), but this time needed to find 2 dps. This one DPS I got, a Black Mage, really made me want to leave the instance. If I wasn't with a FC member, I would of just left. That person did not follow markings, would always contradict what I marked and how I marked it "Oh we should kill this first, its what we did in my last group" "Why do you want to sleep that? Just tank it. Thats what we did in my last group." So we got to the second boss. My strat for it since that stupid goblin LOVES to have the threat at certain times during the fight, when the add comes, sleep the boss. Deal with the Add so that there is no chance the boss will breathe its fire all over the dps and healer but that Black Mage "Why sleep the boss? Just tank the Add and the boss. Thats what we did in my last group" Like seriously... I wanted to leave that instance at that very moment. The summoner we had wasn't there before and admitted to it so it was fine for the summoner, but the Black Mage was just really getting under my skin. This is the way I have ran it, with no problems.

So I did it his way, let him die when the boss decided to breathe his fire while I was busy chasing the stupid Goblin tanking the add. Then we got to the last boss, I explained the fight and that Black Mage again said "Why have your dps stand together? We should spread out, makes it less likely that we will get hit by the poison." Seriously! I have done this boss multiple times, we figured out that on the first attempts and stuck with said strat because it works. Just to avoid a 10 min fight with him AGAIN!!! I decided to just go with it. We wiped in record time because the poison was just everywhere, I had no room to move the boss when I got knocked back, and that Black Mage was sucking up all the healers Mana because he couldn't figure out Green was bad. So, that is one reason WHY Tanks refuse to go. We don't want DPS to contradict us every single mob, every single boss. It gets really annoying. We want DPS who WILL Focus Fire on the Primary Tank Target. Regardless. Unless the tank specifically says that YOU should target another mob. The Tank already has one of the hardest jobs, all we ask of our DPS is to Kill what I am attacking, listen to the strats and follow said strats, and Stay out of anything that Can and Will Kill them. Is that really too hard to ask? And yet DPS complain about LONG Wait times. Get used to it. There are Thousands of you DPS out there, there are only a few hundred tanks and healers. Get used to it.

No amount of complaining from DPS will really get us to keep queueing up for instances when we get DPS like this Black Mage who decides he is all better and all knowing. By the way, with that DPS, we failed on the dragon 4x before he finally realized Green is bad.

I understand you had a frustrating experience, but this is not germane to the discussion at all. You had a bad DPS in your group, we have all been there.

As far as duty finder, I have little experience with queues by pairing with a marauder. Anyhow, having her in group when queue = instant group more or less. When I became a scholar at 30 I tried queuing on my own once and it was 30-40 minutes wait. I think having only conj as healer 1-30 (serious mistake imo) made everyone roll conj when the real limiting factor is tanks. If they would decrease FATE experience and boost dungeon experience, more people would do it. This would then encourage excess dps to roll tanks after massive queues. The only way the game population is going to reach this magical 50% dps 25% healer 25% tank mark is by tanks getting instaqueued and dps waiting. As long as dps can just pound down FATE and avoid dungeons entirely, nothing will change for the better.

Thing is, is that bad dps are more common place than you understand. Even if I mark targets, most of the dps I get from duty finders will not target the first target in Sequence. The marks I use 1, 2, 3. And yet, most dps can't even follow that. It is why a lot of Tanks are in Free Company's and running with Company DPS because they are more reliable when it comes to the dungeons. I personally am now avoiding the Duty Finder unless it is a last resort. My free company has enough healers and dps to allow me to do it. This only compounds your problem of not being able to get Dungeons as a dps because there are less and less tanks/healers queueing for dungeons which is creating this problem. I have to date no problem in getting groups on the Duty finder, sometimes it takes a few minutes, but for dps who are literally complaining of 45mins to 1 hour wait times is just foolish. When I last played WoW, the dps wait time was over 2 hours. On swtor, I have heard from numerous dps that the wait time is insane, borderline if they can get an instance in 1 day they are lucky.

Tanks get instant queues as you claim, and healers for the most part also can get in relatively quickly, but dps can't. Yet they complain about wait times and when it is time for them to go in a dungeon, most of them can't do it right. I have had many dps who knew what to do, and if they didnt were still able to take their target from me, or follow the markings I laid out. Plus, they would ask what the boss does so they can watch out. But out of those many dps I have had, they only make a fraction, a small amount of the bad dps I have had. This isn't just 1 case, this is 1 case in many.

it's true. I'm approaching my 100th dungeon run and even as late as stone vigil DD players are routinely bad about focus fire, positioning, AOE avoidance, CC, etc. About half the healers over heal (spam), run away from the tank with boss adds, stand in AOE, or are under equipped.

It's because fates are easy leveling so dungeons are avoided, and the long queues make it likely that almost every DF PUG run consists of players new to the dungeon. Finding a DD or healer equipped in a full dungeon set of armor after 30 doesn't happen (barring static groups).

it's not going to change. most DD will not play healer or tank under almost any circumstances beyond 15 or 30 so we will always have an imbalance.

I like standing near the dungeon entrance getting poked and pm'ed like crazy. It makes me feel pretty.
